Pro is x86 based processors. i.e. Intel and AMD. It runs full 'normal' windows8 and is no different than any other laptop/desktop in terms of OS.
RT is ARM based processors. i.e. phones/tablets. It runs a scaled version of windows8 that is intended to match the software capabilities of win8 but, at least initially, will be heavily lacking in full software features.
