Forums - Microsoft - Windows 8 touch screen tablets/laptops worth checking out (other than Surface)

Everyone is talking about the Microsoft Surface these days and while its really awesome (I got to play with it briefly today), it's not the only Windows 8 device in town. I'm looking to spend around a 1000 bucks on a Win 8 device and I did a little bit of research and found a lot Windows 8 devices which are really interesting.

Here are my top 5, and reason why they are interesting:

1. Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 - http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/thinkpad/thinkpad-tablet-2/

Why its awesome: x86 with 10 hour battery life and 600 grams. Not missing a single feature - dockable keyboard, active digitizer screen and pen slot, 4G LTE, NFC...the works.

2. Acer S7 Ultrabook - http://www.acer.ca/ac/en/CA/content/series/aspires7

Why it's awesome: 11.6 inch touch screen, Full HD 1080p, up to i7 processor...and 12 mm thick with 2.2 lbs.

3. Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 - http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/ideapad/yoga/yoga-13/

Why its awesome: Most flexible (literally) Windows 8 laptop. Why would anyone buy an ultrabook when this is similar price and does so much more.

4. Sony Vaio Duo 11 - http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-duo

Why it's awesome: up to i7, slide out keyboard, 1080p touch screen, active digitizer and pen in one small package

5. Asus VivoBook x202E - http://incredibletogether.asus.com/vivobook.html

Why it's awesome: Attractive 11.6 inch laptop under 3 lbs, packing an i3 processor, USB3 and capacitive touch screen...for $499!? Thats nuts.

With so many great devices I have a real dillema what to get with my money. Surface + x202 or Acer S7? Yoga or Sony Vaio? That Lenovo Thinkpad 2 is by far the best Win 8 tablet IMO but no price or release date is announced as of today.

What do you guys think? What Windows 8 devices do you find most appealing? Any other devices worth checking out?

Interesting to say the least.

What are the prices of these tablets?

This is extremely sexy 20 inch all in one.

Tease.

Most of those are not even direct competitors. Have you heard of the ASUS vivotab? I think im probably gonna get that...but then there's also the Samsung Ativ Smart and the HP envy x2.

I saw this and while it does look unique, I struggle to see why I need 2 screens. If I can figure out a use for 2 screens, I'll definetly consider it...lol

You know when you walk past any Starbucks people like to sit by the window showing off their Apple logo? Well with this, you can really give them something to look at! LOL

If you consider only Win RT as a direct copetitor, I guess. But I disagree... Windows 8 is trying to be all things to all people so all these devices compete with each other.

I wrote a thread on my distaste on Windows RT the other day (need backwards compatibility). Other than Surface which is quite attractive due to amazing hardware, I find all the other RT devices very unappealing. They just seem like Android tablets with Windows 8 on them.
