Forums - Gaming - So what’s the verdict gaming folks…does The Last of US look better than Uncharted 3?

Yeah, while I did like Uncharted 3, it fell short of #2 for me because it was a too scripted; the pipe you were climbing up breaking away from the wall or the floor collapsing beneath you were really overused, to the point where it got very annoying. Still an 8/10 game, but it could have been a 9/10.

It seemed very rushed and rather underwhelming by Naughty Dog's high standards, though it still would have easily been a career game for 99% of other studios. I think they ended up making the environment seem more like the enemy than the men with guns did. And while a few parts were breathtaking, like hanging out the back of the cargo plane or the topsy-turvy part in the sinking cruise ship or the trippy desert scene (although I found that part pretty annoying on subsequent playthroughs), you mostly just fell through the damn floor all the time. I didn't even remember a single shootout until I played through on Crushing and actually got stuck a few times. Uncharted 2 had a much, much better balance of action, with some of the most incredible set piece gun battles I've ever seen.

Also, is it just me or did Uncharted 3's aiming feel kind of... off? At least in the single player. Multiplayer was a lot better than Uncharted 2's for me.

I heard they patched the aiming.  Not sure, though.  I'd been meaning to play through the game again but time flies.  It's almost been a year.  Pretty much agree with your entire assessment, though.

From that first picture and all of the CGI content I have seen I will have to go with The Last of Us. The only competition it gets from Aldros game is the Desert.

His name is Aldro right? Aldo?

I will wait until I play it to judge. I am leaning towards TLOU though, for now. Despite me feeling UC3 will be the overall wow game due to the ridicilous environments it goes to and what it does to display raw power ^^

Thought it was common sense LOU looks better

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Obviously this person would not have made this article and I would not have spent more than a minute formatting it if it was common sense. Some seem to think they are on the same level. Aldro may think Uncharted 3 is better.

I LOVE Uncharted as you know :D, but I think I give the nodd to TLOU for now. But one still needs to see the game as  whole, you know? UC3 will still be the game with the ridicilous moments whereas TLOU will be more grounded and perhaps even a better experience. But comparing textures, character models, lightning etc :: TLOU could get the longer straw -- I feel it does have that right now. I admit I wish it wasnt the case, but I am also glad since its ND we're talking about xD. If any game is to be better, im glad its TLOU.

Different artistic takes on the two.  Depends if you like the more colorful approach like in Uncharted or the more realistic approach like in Last of Us.  They most likely are no better than each other.  They both look really good though.

Who cares if it looks better, I hope that its gameplay is way better than the boring Uncharted crap, I hope the last of us has not only scripted events and all ist gameplay is not that scripted and limited.

I really hope that Naughty Dog finally makes a really good game for the Ps3, a game which is good beyond its graphics, thas what I hope to come true for the last of us.

Uncharted still looks better IMO. I was a bit disappointed when I saw The Last of Us at first.
It's time for a new console generation (ignoring WiiU as usual  )

What we need is not more power and better graphics, we need more creativity and better gameplay. No one can see this boring soulless Uncharteds or Call of dutys anymore. We want new ideas, better gameplay, creativity not only the old crap with a few more polygones over and over again. So the current consoles and their power is not the problem.

Uncharted has at worst good gameplay, and it took cinematic storytelling far beyond anything else seen before, can't that be appreciated?

Oh, and calling Uncharted "soulless" tells me you haven't played it.
