Forums - Microsoft - Phil Harrison to give first public address as Xbox exec at LGC

Develop

Phil Harrison will give his first public address as an Xbox exec at next month's London Games Conference.

He will give the opening keynote at the November 21st event.

Harrison joins a roster that already includes Twitter, Google, Electronic Arts, Sega, Disney, Yogscast and other key experts

on digital games discovery and distribution.

Harrison took a role overseeing Microsoft games and studios in Europe earlier this year.

As corporate VP of Microsoft EMEA's Interactive Entertainment Business unit, Harrison has a key role covering Xbox, Xbox Live, mobile and more.

He is best-known for a defining role at PlayStation. After 16 years at Sony he immersed himself in new business models and technologies, particularly in mobile and social.

At LGC, he will discuss 'Building the future of entertainment'. His talk will take cues from the growth of 360 and introduction of games on Windows 8 to ask:

"What opportunities will a new platform and a huge new audience mean for gamers, developers and distributors? What kind of studios, IP and delivery mechanisms will we see as the old world changes and the very genre of ‘gaming’ is forever redefined?"

London Games Conference takes place at One Wimpole Street, and is a focused afternoon/evening series of talks followed by dinner and networking.

Earlier this week Sean Decker, EA's free to play boss, was announced as another keynote speaker at the event.

The full schedule is now set and will be published next week.

Platinum Partner for the event is Meteor Entertainment, with Gold Partner support from 6Waves, Qinqo and Microsoft plus Event Partner Heaven Media.

So MS stole another Sony exclusive.....their former executive :P.

I kid I kid. Been a while since we've heard from this guy.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

microsoft wanted another Peter Molyneux.

He should have never go away from sony. He had a very stable job there, and because of him we have games like LBP and InFamous.

But I think Yoshida is doing the work better. Hopefully he will allow LoD2 to be made :)

He sank Sony and Atari, now Microsoft is next in line.

I'm pretty sure the situation with Atari was it was already a sinking ship and he kind-of-sort-of, said "I can save it!  I really can!"

I don't think you can pin Sony on Phil, not to mention Europe is Sony's best market according to VGC.
