Don't be a party pooper.

By the time your PS Plus subscription ends, you would have beaten those games already. Anyway if you really like your PS+ game collection, keep paying the $50 a year. Simple as that. If you don't have anything to contribute to this thread, get out.

How did I not contribute? It's fact that you lose access to those free games when you stop paying, there are people who don't like that. I have a PS3 and  do not have a PS+ subscription, if it such an awesome service and a no brainer, why do I not subscribe? I tell you why. Because in my personal cost benefit analysis it's not worth binding myself to a service like this for a bunch of old bargain bin games. And if you want me to get out, say please.

How can you say old bargain bin games when they are offering titles such as inFamous 2, Red Dead Redemption, Resident Evil 5, Payday The Heist and Little Big Planet 2? Last time I checked those were all critically praised games (maybe not RE5) which have each sold millions of copies.

Bargain bin does not mean bad game. It means I can get all those games for 10 bucks or less and keep them forever.

See I just don't understand the logic behind that. Why not pay for PS Plus and get all those games + more games and get discount on other games + DLC. To me it just makes much more sense financially.

The logic is that I pay a little bit more but own the game and not merely rent it. I also get a physical copy and am thus independent from the well being of the digital content provider. The PS+ discounts do nothing for me since I don't buy retail games digitally on consoles and if I know that a game will be DLC heavy I wait for the GOTY version/steam sale anyway.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

But the way I see it is that if you are going to continue subscribing then you don't simply rent the game you own it. Also I don't really enjoy having discs because of the hassle of keeping them in the case switching games out on the PS3 or sometimes the disc gets jammed inside the PS3. If for instance you accidently drop your PS3 console the disc won't come out but the PS3 itself still works. Oh well i'm not gonna try to change your opinion since thats simply almost impossible to do to any person. Do whatever makes you happy.

Subscripting ad infinitum to a service to keep your games, sounds reasonable.

You two should just drop it.  You all aren't going to change each others opinions. For some people it's worth it while to others it's not, simple as that.

This post is just me boasting about how AMAZING PS Plus is.

Alright I literally got PS Plus for the first time 10 minutes ago (I've had a PS3 for almost 4 years). I NEVER realized how much content you could get for free. I paid 18$ for 3 months and have already gotten 80$ worth of content for FREE. I'm sorry but if you are an avid Playstation gamer and you don't have PS Plus then you should be ashamed of yourself (lol). Seriously though, does Xbox live offer anything else other than the ability to play online? I'm not trying to start a hate thread but I just simply can't understand why someone would choose Xbox Live over PSN. I'm so mad that I missed out on the Red Dead Redemption thing for September. Just got inFamous 2 so I guess I'll be fine =P.  Does anyone know if they offer these amazing games for free every month? Like for example I know in September it was Red Dead and I'm guessing this month it's inFamous. PS PLUS IS THE GREATEST.

I love you all. (yes homo)

Because XBL has proven to be superior over PSN.  Messages, inviting friends, party chats, avatars, etc is all that makes XBL better.  I'm not saying PSN is bad, but it's not as good as XBL either.  A good free service would be steam which does many things as good as XBL but better sometimes too.  Why I don't care about PSN+ is because the content that they have I simply do not want.  What I want I buy and I get it earlier when I buy it myself.  I want Journey, so I buy it, I'm not going to wait for PSN+ to offer it.

Aren't all of these things available on PS+? I know for sure that you can have avatars and themes without it (unless you're talking about the little person next to your gamertag, which I know no one would claim as a positive point).

Well I could say the same thing about Xbox Live about continually subscribing to play online but as Jaywood said, let's just drop it since neither one of us is going to change the other persons opinion.

Yeah PS Plus is really great, but only for the free stuff, their discounts sometimes a bit lame (like 5 dollars off only from a 60 dollar game, wut?) , but their free stuff is amazing, i got so many games that I downloaded and never heard of , and a lot of them are good games, sometimes games i didn't bother with buying , like BloodRayne, now i got for free.

but I still like Steam the best out of these services, and XBL the least

PSN

Pros : Free. also PS Plus is great, No lag even for countries outside of USA, mostly region free content, also OPTIONAL PS Plus.

Cons : the goddamn slow updates, everytime i want to play something I have to update my PS3 , then update my games, I just want to pop a disk in and play, thats what consoles are for damnit! , no voice chat outside games, some region locking crap (you have to buy the same region game to play on servers) , Trophies, I fucking hate trophies, they're so slow and so meaninless and are a bitch to "Sync to servers" when you play for long periods.

Steam

No region locking servers, has everything the other services have and does it better, Free, and has HUGE discounts, also very easy to use, and have no Adverts (except for game adverts and discounts) , and ironically , I am finding Steam to be faster to boot than consoles, sure it needs updates, but they're not very common , and steam updates fast.

Cons : no "update later" , and this is something that happens to me a lot, I take long breaks from games and when I want to go back to play them , there is an update, and I can't play the games until the update finish, This is also a trend in consoles lately, which kinda defeats the purpose of a console, its crap, also Steam is a wallet whore, i have soo many games on my backlog, its not even funny (this is not a con, maybe it is)

XBL

fast updates, and fast download speeds, voice chat outside of game, Windows Phone intergration, Achievements are not annoying as trophies But -read down-

cons : almost too many to list, Its not free (NO YOU DON'T GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR stop lying to yourself) , Region locking like a boss , some games don't even work even after buying them , because I don't live in the best country in the world , and it pisses me off more than anything, Adverts i don't give a fuck about (honestly i don't care about Obama and Whathisface and I don't care about Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga) , almost nothing is free, and if its free, its a piece of shit, also achievements are super lame , and barely have anything special when you do get them.

I guess it all depends on what you prefer. Myself for instance, I personally do not care about things such as avatars or themes. To me it's all about the games, discounts and the exclusive/early access to betas. But I do get where you are coming from. I myself would like if PS3 could have party chat but that's already been said to never be available. Hopefully PS4 has it. I wasn't trying to bash Xbox Live I'm just not very knowledgable on what sort of content it offers to members.

If you don't have both then I don't believe you should be shouting that PSN+ is the best.  And yes PS4 should have party chats, or at least cross game chat.  PSN needs to fix its messaging system, inviting friends, and a more accessible online dashboard that you can access at all times.  I know some people prefer free online like the person above me but Sony, Microsft, and Nintendo does have to pay for the servers we use so I dont mind giving 5 dollars a month for an online service whether it's to PSN or XBL.  XBL is very successful so I wouldn't doubt if PSN+ is mandatory next gen but who knows, it's also a good marketing tactic keeping it free.  Really though if you haven't tried steam, try it.  It's free and knocks PSN out of the park.

There is nothing wrong with messaging in PSN. Quit trolling.

You can totally say they same thing about XBL and you would be right. Paying for XBL but complaining about PS+ would be hypocritical, that's why I'm paying for neither.
