I don't have the energy to argue this point. Nintendo's history shows they have placed their characters on a multitude of mediums.

Victory - Me

Victory - You

There this is now over. Because there is no reason to argue this point. We agree on Mario being a whore for Nintendo.

I think this will be an interesting topic so I'm going to make a thread about it ;)

It would be a very interesting topic. It would bring a lot of attention as well.

It would be just another area that Nintendo characters discussed about how they are everywhere. :)

@Tridrakious

We can't blame everything on the advertisement.... The did some good advertisement w Little Big Planet and didn't work much... I just think that Sony doesn't have that "magic touch" that Nintendo has... If u really think about it, ppl who but Ucharted also but God of War and Gran Turismo, it's the same market, and Nintendo has products that appeal pretty much all the markets...

This is one of the problems of moving the goal posts to many times Vic. You've moved the goal to so many different areas that it isn't possible to ever have a solution that both sides can cleanly walk away from. Because no company has really announced how they view 2013 as far as releases passed the first 3 months of the year. And that is where Sony has most of their bigger releases.

And throwing personal attacks on someone to distract from the debate isn't helping either. So I don't know what you are now trying to accomplish. I really hope the goal doesn't get moved again, because this is just dragging on and on.

I don't even know what moving the goal is, sorry. Basically my point is the same.

I didn't thrown any personal attacks, either - him on the other side - basically called me attention whore several times and is, like always, very impolite in his anwers. In the words of a mod here, his ego is limitless.

I am ba very very fair person, and while I will argue a lot, I will admit when there is a point to admit to. Ask anyone in mafia.

Oh, and you are an attention whore. :D  You made a thread to talk about the vita being Doomed, which has been not only against the rules for being a topic that has inspired hundreds of asanine and flamebait threads, but one that draws a lot of ire in general, for what? To tell us that vita needs big games? Please tell me I'm wrong.

At least when you still stuck to third party exclusives meaning that, and not the new interpretation of "third party means big games" your thread had some individuality, but now, it's the same as any other vita is doomed thread.

You... and I know you, better than you think I do.... you cannot ignore a chance to say something controversial, especially about vita. Tell me I'm wrong. I know you. You're not a bad guy, but you cannot deny that fact. Even if it means you are a little unfair in the way you do it.

I'm very sure there is overlap between the games, however they are different games though. So it isn't like every Uncharted player also went out and bought the God of War games. Although it is more likely those two games were see more overlap than Gran Turismo with them.

Also LittleBigPlanet is becoming a very strong franchise for Sony. I think they realize they need iconic characters on top of continuously pushing for new IP all the time. Games like LittleBigPlanet Karting and PlayStation All-Stars will really help in unifying these characters and allowing for growth.

Sony and Nintendo both develop and publish games for pretty much every market, however, Sony doesn't advertise. My work history has kept me in the gaming field for the passed few years and Sony has not pushed a campaign for the PSP that wasn't a clusterf*** and the same thing goes for Vita. But the Vita really hasn't had anything that could be considered a campaign.

Where do you categorize games like Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Hearts R?

-Final Fantasy X HD remake(yes this does count even though its also on PS3)

After everything that has happened do you really think this will be playstation exclusive?

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

The only true thing Nintendo has over Sony in the handheld market is it's pedigree. Nothing more. The fact that they have kept the same franchises around for so long has allowed them to become house hold names. Are they some how better than what Sony offers? Hell no, and I could argue that they kinda suck, but repetition is how you make a name for yourself.

Sony, in the beginning focused very heavily on 3rd Party in PS1 era. They had quite a few games that represented Playstation and will forever be ubiquitous with the name. Resident evil, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Crash, etc are linked to PS due to repetitiously being available(some exclusively) on the console for so long. Go check out the sales differentiation on the multiplatform entries for reference if you do not believe me.

Unfortunately many of these have gone the way of the Dodo or gone Multiplatform. Sony has in the past few years, formulated a plethora of strong 1st party titles to fill these voids. Yet you cannot expect something that has only been around for one generation to have the kind of assured selling power Mario has. It is just highly unlikely.

This is where Vita comes in. No matter what they release for it, it is probably not going to have the selling power of a Mario game unless it is something that has been out just as long.....FF for instance. Does this mean that what is available on it is weak? Far from it, and anyone who has a Vita will tell you that it's growing line up is far better than any other system's in the past within the same time frame.

With every new console each one of these titles will become immediately recognizable to those who bought it and keep growing, as long as they stick to them. Sony has learned their lesson to stop killing off every good franchise they have in light of something new or leaving it up to 3rd party to grow the system, consumers are too lazy and most often look for recognizable names. If they leave this to 3rd party they can just screw them over(NIN learned this with FF and so did Sony this gen) , so they need to make sure the 1st party is there.

Over all, First Party is far more important than 3rd, Vita has great 1st party coming, be happy.

I approve of this post. Gran Turismo has been around for a long time and I'm sure that Sony would have liked to keep Crash and Spyro, but that didn't happen. And instead of forcing their developers to stay on one franchise and keep pumping out installment after installment, the studios get to make what they want to make.

Even Polyphony Digital has made games outside of Gran Turismo.

@Tridrakious

If u atually think about it, Yeap, they actually share market, obviously not the 100% but they're target to the same market!

Now, I don't see Little Big Planet getting even closer to those Nintendo franchises that aren't even that big, for example, Star Fox or Kirby... There's noi t that relation, we all know it's a PS brand but doesn't really represents it.. I think Uncharted does a better job in that case...

In the advertisement field, Vita (hardware) has had important push by Sony, I'm not much of watching sports but at work they do and I saw special sections completely advertised by the Vita and also the advertisement around the field, thats , by itself, a big push... Now, I'm pretty sure I've seen some TV ads and special promotions in Sony products where Vita is highly mentioned. For software I actually saw some push when Vita was realease, haven't seen much TV lately...

In the United States I haven't seen an advertisment for the Vita since it's launch in Feburary. I have heard that some commercials are being aired in the UK which is good, but Sony's advertising as a whole is horrendous. They stopped using Kevin Butler and when the actor who played him moved on, they got pissy and are trying to sue him.

PlayStation has not been on the best of feet when it comes to promotion of their products. And arguing about it is pointless, because Sony is terrible at advertising.
