Forums - Sales - XBox 360 hits 70 Million, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Congrats to MS considering they sold next to nothing in one of the big markets. I hope they fare better in Japan next gen but I don't think both MS and Japan care anyway.

A pretty damn impressive accomplishment considering they are coming off a predecessor that sold a measly 23 million and the entire Japanese market still refuses to buy their product.

Its the same beast as the PS3 just different exclusives. They set themselves to do the exact same thing. In the western world one small difference can mean a whole lot. In Japan, it needs to have a big difference to break brand loyalty. Thats why Japan refuses to buy it.

Because everyone thought microsoft could not hang with the big boys. ^ they were wrong. So now we habe three threads.

It wasn't rocket science how they did it. They had to cut into Sony's Marketshare (by becoming indistinguishable to them), then they cut into Nintendos( with the kinect). Smart plan, but as a developer they have yet to impress. Congrats to them because 70 million is definitely a milestone.

70 million Xbox 360 consoles had been sold as of September 30, 2012, according to Microsoft.

In comparison, lifetime PS3 sales stood at 63.9 million units as of March 31, 2012, while lifetime Wii sales stood at 96.56 million units as of June 30.

Xbox 360 launched in November 2005, and Wii and PS3 in November 2006.

Last night Microsoft reported a year-on-year decline in Xbox 360 revenues and shipped units for the first quarter of its fiscal year 2013.

And earlier this week the firm's UK arm poured cold water on speculation that it will introduce an Xbox 360 price cut in the run up to the Christmas shopping season.

Why don't you search the forums to see if this wasn't posted before you? This is like thread nr4 or 5.

Bobby Kotick is an idiot. Japan buys American products, just products  that are superior to theirs or things they dont have. Apple, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc are big over there. Microsofts efforts in Japan are no better than Sonys efforts in the west. Then again, Sonys efforts to get western attention have been better and are focused on highly in their first party. Microsoft has always paid other people to do that work for them. Unless they can innovate they dont have a chance. They haven't so until they choose to, they know what to do. Besides, they've proven they dont need Japan, all they need are two blockbuster shooters to outsell the competition in America (wait, thats probably one of the major reasons they are having a hard time in Japan).

My only response would be to read this:

(kinda like come to jesus in reverse)

Well..Still can't believe why people buy Xbox 360. It sucks and it isn't even near gaming. ugh.

People need to stop saying MS products are not of high quality or as high as japanese products. It's not like japanese hate MS more than american products, they just don't want them. Western games don't sell much on Sony and Nintendo consoles in Japan eventhough they are japanese consoles. Japan has a specific idea of what they find attractive and most of these ideas come from Japan. When one watches animes and everything around japanese sci-fi shows/movies knows why Apple is popular over there.

America's population is way more diverse than Japan and this results in having more diverse tastes thans Japan thus why almost anything can succeed in America.

OMG shipped not sold! you people just don't get it!
