Isn't the public beta for non playstation plus fans coming out on the 23rd? Maybe they will add cole and the guy from ape escape and other characters already revealed to the multiplayer.

It's just their holiday ad campaign. It was really successful last year and people liked it.(over 11 million views on Youtube). I just know for sure that there is no new game announcement.
