Forums - Nintendo - Fans Demand Darkstalkers on Wii U, Capcom Takes Note

Darkstalkers has been around since the Saturn/PS days, but hasn’t had a sequel outside of Japan since 2000. The fighting game introduced the 16-bit color animated sprites which Capcom used in later fighting series like Street Fighter Alpha and Marvel vs Capcom. Darkstalkers had managed a large following when several of the games transitioned from arcades to the consoles.

Due to the series’ continued acclaim, an updated HD compilation was announced at New York Comic-Con during the 25th Anniversary Street Fighter Panel: Darkstalkers Resurrection for XBLA and PSN in early 2013.

The game has been in the making for a year, at which point Capcom was ‘unclear about Wii U’s online strategy’, and was in planning cycles for longer than that. Fans of the game are consequently pushing for this title to appear on the   Wii U, seeing as Nintendo has fixed just about every issue that could have impeded the project if it were on the Wii.

A Capcom employee has responded on the forums: “The request has been noted though. We’ll see.

Certainly no reason not to, but then again this is Capcom, who just seems to have no overarching strategy to speak of (make some terrible games, some great games, some games that become the center of controversy, and some good games that they screw over with poor decisionmaking), so there's no real answer here. Are we going to get the Capcom who moved heaven and earth to get Tatsunoko vs Capcom into the West, or is this the Capcom that thought the "Bionic Commando" remake was a good idea and did what they did to Spyborgs? Or the Capcom that conceded to fan demand and made Marvel Versus Capcom 3, and then less than a year later made the "ultimate" version of the same game?

Are we going to get Jekyll, Hyde, or Gogo Dodo on this one?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

^ I actually hope the new capcom has atleast some decency/brains left from the old one! :P
