Forums - PC - SimCity 'Disasters' trailer~ Sim City like you have never seen it before!

I'm a long time Simcity fan and while that video seems cool, everything I've seen so far in the game on the developer blogs and fan sites has really disappointed me. This Simcity has gone backwards in terms of game features. The city maps are much smaller, subways, highways, and other transportation options have been removed, terraforming has been removed, zoning density control is gone, and the cities are separated by undeveloped land. So much of what the series had been built to is gone.

Oh and the game is online only via Origin

:( Dislike some of the missing features and new security. May just get SimCity4 as I haven't played since #3 and I miss the game. Steam has that one for sale too.. i.e. not Origin only.

I haven't played Sim City in a long time, but this makes me want to play it again.

I like how each sim has it's own story and you can follow them. And those disasters are funny! (when they aren't real.)

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

My laptop just meets the minimum requirements, but that's probably not enough to have a good experience with this game.

Pity, because I was very interested (I probably put more hours in SC4 than any other game), and I'm not gonna get a new laptop to play it.

Forgot about this after working for 4 nights in a row. How many hours did you put into SC4? O_o

I am not computer savvy. How does this have higher requirements than bigger more visually pleasing PC games?

Because for this game they are actually simulating tens of thousands of systems at any one time.

Last time I played Sim City was 20+ years ago....

tried it1987... wors,t game I've ever played

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

3 was the best I think.

This removes so much of 3 and 4. All they'd need to do is re-release 3 with updated graphics and a little more to do or a better tutorial.

No one plays SimCity for online. It's a single-player game.

I don't know because there is no counter (even if there was I have played this game in 4 different computers/laptops). But the last time I played SC4 was a few weeks ago and it's nearly a 10 year old game... It's what I play when I have nothing else.

And I'm not computer savvy either, but I'm guessing it's because of the millions of calculations (population, energy/water consumption, traffic, commuting, polution, jobs, etc) and having thousands of individual buildings on screen.

I have such mixed feelings about this game.

On the one hand, I'm so happy about the return of SimCity and I'm happy it's being created by Maxis. And yes, things look a bit dumbed down, but I still think it looks great.

On the other hand, I'm really wary of the checks EA are putting in place for it. Don't you have to be connected to the internet at the start of any session? I don't play SimCity to be on the internet. I play it to escape from the world and build an epic city and then (sometimes) destroy it.

Meh, I'm still hyped for the game I guess, it's been too long coming!
