they just started again after a 9 year break. PC gaming is a big focus for EA at the moment as they try to get some Steam money.

I feel the same way you do. Unfortunately its not even connect to the Internet at the start of a session. The Internet connection is always required. If you lose it for more than a few seconds the game ends. And since the game lives online, including your saved cities. So you can't reload old versions of cities after launching disasters.
