Forums - Sony - Sony’s Holiday Lineup Won’t Be Enough to Save Vita

Sure, you can play Black Ops, Assassin's Creed 3, and PSASBR on the PS3, but can you take your PS3 on the bus/train to work/school, or squeeze in a game during lunch break, or at the bus stop? Portability it the key here; never before have such experiences been available on the go.

The problem is that the system is struggling a lot in NPD.

This month saw LBP for example, plus other games, and the increase was minimal. It's just barely over 10k a week - that's incredibly low - as the source once said - gamecube in 2005 low.

Maybe the system don't need games. Maybe it needs a drastic price cut after all. Maybe games will be only sent to die in this situation. I'm starting to highly doubt the power of a single game (or even a pack of games) in vita's situtation. Specially in a holiday that tradicionally favors its competitor (and low prices)

Call of dutty in PSP sold in a bit over 5000 first week in usa and COD Desclassified had 12k.

sry to ask but what 12k does Declassified have ?
Also since the PSP has a much higher userbase, plus the fact that it was the only COD game on the system gave it decent legs. Something that most likely won't happen with Declassified.
First week sales aren't everything.

Pre order

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I think he's talking about pre-orders.

Edit: beaten

The only game that will help Vita sales a little bit will be the Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation bundle, but the other games coming out wont help much. I doubt anyone will buy Playstation All Stars, since you could get it for free by buying the PS3 version. COD Black Ops: Declassified will probably bomb, that game looks terrible.

Bomb compare to ps3 call of duty but it will outsold all the handheld call of duty

I doubt it will. There is no way that 2/3 of all Vita owners will buy the game. Especially considering how bad the game looks, and that most COD games do very poorly in Japan.

Monster Hunter in Japan. ;)

I still believe this will happen and that it will save the system there.

Honestly, I doubt it will. The game will probably get very poor reviews, and once Killzone Mercenary comes out, everyone will ignore it.

mh okay I was looking at the latest pre-order chart and couldn't find it so I was not sure where the number was coming from.

@small44

It will only have legs if: the game is at least decent and the Vita sells much more units than it does now.

http://www.vgchartz.com/tools/game_comparison.php?reg=Global&ending=Cumulative&game[]=Call+of+Duty%3A+Roads+to+Victory+%28PSP%29+[6054]&game[]=&game[]=&game[]=

As I said. It will be insanely hard to have comparable legs as the PSP CoD game above.
