Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Perma-Banning Xbox 360 Gamers For Playing Halo 4

Like always nothing happen... the ban is fake or at least not for all life because in some days a new custom firmware is out do unbans (is that word?) these guys.

The hacker community make sure you are safe.

You cannot unban that console ID once it's permabanned.  You can inject a new complete ID but you would need.that from another Xbox.  It's not easy to do and if you're dumb enough to get banned for this in the first place, I doubt you could do the hack.  The 360 encryption still hasn't fully been broken so there is no way for users to create the necessary console ID and other system keys That would work on Live for free.

This is pretty standard behaviour banning for playing leaked copies by Microsoft, they did it with Halo Reach too.

I'll feel sorry for whoever picks up the early £1,000 copy on eBay and loses their XBL account.

They wont ban you from owning a legit copy.

Lets say I was able to buy this game at a shop (like in poland and Resident Evil 6) Who the hell gives them the right to bann me? I mean did I somewhere sign a contract that sates "from the day I bought my 360 I will check every release date of every game out there?"

I mean there are screens of actual DVDs in the wild. SO lets say I have no idea when halo comes out and the guy that had those disks visits me and we were playing Halo4. NO i get banned?

They have no prove I downloaded the game or that I knew what was going on.

BTW: Can MS still or actually  block consoles from working? I remeber I read something about it long ago  is this actually true? Can they make my console be a brick?

To run the leaked game you will have to have your console modded in the first place, that already is a bannable offense.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Wow, this surprises me on so many levels. One, they know it's wrong to steal, so they already knew the were doing wrong. But they weren't smart enough to log out and go offline before they started playing.

Now they got their console banned. I'm sure they are sad.

I wouldn't think this would effect too many people.

I like to think that they will learn it's wrong to steal from this and stop doing it. Because for the first time in their lives, they actually are held accountable for their behavior.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

343 already said they won't ban you if you have a legit copy. This is just for pirates that downloaded the game.

They can permanently ban your console so you can never go online with it again. This will also block all saved games on the hdd but as far as I know they can not brick a console.

Unless they were playing illegitimate copies of the game they shouldn't be banned.

You have to be pretty stupid to play it online illegitimately. I'm just curious to see how much this boosts 360 sales.

Can they tell? Oh, I thought they were just banning anybody who plays it early, even if there is a tiny chance that their copy is genuine.

You can get a 4GB 360 for $150...so if you get perma-banned it's not the end of the world. Get a new console, sign up for a new Gold account, and move on with your life.

Now, if you get perma-banned a second time you are just beyond retarded.

You're either 12 and don't understand that $150 is a lot of money or you don't understand that people who don't regularly pirate games have a lot of things tied to their gold account (which I assume people dumb enough to try and play multiplayer are those people).

If youre account gets banned, not only is that console and account banned, but you lose any MS points you bought, you lose your gold subscription, you lose every save game, you lose any games you downloaded, and you lose all DLC you've downloaded.

Right...so as I said: If you are really that tied to MS, go get a new console and re-subscribe to Gold.  Are you trying to say that people who get perma-banned for pirating software don't deserve it?  Because otherwise I do not sympathize with your point whatsoever.

I'm 25, by the way. I work for a living and am putting myself through school.  I would never be retarded enough to get myself banned from XBL.  Those people get what's coming to them.

And what I'm saying is if you're that tied to your console, it's a bigger deal than that.  Yes, you can just buy another console and resubscribe but the point is you've lost everything.  Not just your gamerscore and acheivements, but also every piece of DLC and XBLA game you've bought.

I actually fully agree that the people who got banned deserve no sympathy, I giggle a little time every time pirates get banned and then they bitch and moan they did nothing wrong, I'm just saying $200 is a lot of money to waste (new 360 plus a year of Gold), anyone who works for a living should know that.
