Forums - Nintendo - Is RETRO working on car combat game (like Vigilante 8) for WiiU? Or an adventure game?

Which game is Retro most likely working on?

Thunder Rally 1 3.33%

Raven Blade 3 10.00%

Action Adventure 14 46.67%

Metroid!/Results! 12 40.00%

Total:30

Back when the Gamecube was still codenamed Dolphin, RETRO STUDIOS was working on a car combat game for the upcoming console. The games name was supposed to be Thunder Rally.

Here are some screens:

Somehow looks like MOTORSTORM doesn't it?

WIll we ever see this "Thunder Rally"?

Or will they resurrect Raven Blade?

Or maybe the mysterious "Action Adventure" will finally hit a Nintendo console?

character concepts/artwork from the game codenamed "Action Adventure"

If the new RETRO game would have to be one of the 3 mentioned games which one do you think will be the mostly likely one?

I mean Nintendo knows how good Retro is and when Retro would make their "own" game why wouldn't they base it on something they already invested some time in?

Please discuss.

NO

if i had my pick i'd take action/adventure over car combat ... although car combat would compliment nintendo's current franchises more completely.

also, that second screen reminds more more of rage than motorstorm.

I don't it'll be any of the above... But if I had to choose one it'd be action-adventure game

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The car combat game is a no-go. the industry and gamers has gone beyond that kind of games and it wouldn't be succesful. That is, unless it is a download game like Renegade Ops.

Raven Blade is also very doubtful. Nintendo has Monolith to make RPGs, and it was cancelled for a reason.

So, if I had to choose from those 3, I'd go with the 3rd option, the "Action Adventure" game. It's a genre that sells well and is appreciated among both western and oriental gamers. The biggest problem is that those concept art screens are from 2000.

And besides, aren't there enough rumors about what are they working on (WiiU engines, StarFox, Eternal Darkness, Metroid, etc), that we need even more?

Please excuse my bad English.

I would have preferred Thunder Rally over the others. Nintendo need more racers than Mario Kart! But yes, the action/adventure title would be the most likely to be released.

Although I can say with 99,99% certainty that none of them are going to be resurrected.

THE1 is right on the money. The unnamed action-adventure game would be the most viable.

But it's highly unlikely any will see the light of day.

Yeah, Car Combat, a genre that has been in demand.... by 107 people around the world!

Zero chances, imo. They are working on a "project everybody wants them to do"

Whatever that means, it surely isn't Thunder Rally!

Given how well Twisted Metal, still the premier name in car combat, sold, I would doubt that would be the best use of Retro's resources.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I would love to see Metroid Prime 4 coming from Retro. But I think it's a new IP, and that's great, Nintendo needs more new IPs (AAA).

We need moar Zelda, now!

We need moar Unchartedzz!

We need less DLCs.
