And I understand that there are games that will do very well on the Wii, what I simply want to know is if the sales of Wii can be affected by games on the other consoles, or if the two markets are so different that they don't coincide enough to really make that much of a dent. I do not want to compare games or talk about NMH (which appears to be a great game and one reason I intend to get a wii, whether or not it sells well is immaterial to me) |
Only if they are new IPs or expected IPS. Those who are "hardcore" already know at least vaguely what to expect from each system and already have their minds made up on that. Those hardcore who buy a wii do so not in ignorance of the PS3 or 360s lineup. They just perfer the Wii's hardcore library or are multiplatform gamers.
For example if Sony stole a Wii only hardcore exclusive it would steal wii hardware sales. Though consider it's selling out these numbers would not come to bear untill way down the road, likely past that games release date until after Wii stops selling out.
The only sales that will be stolen by popular hardcore games are casual gamers. Who are amusingly the people who make hardcore gamers successful.
