Well, i think the problem was shown in making comparisons like that in Nintendos data for Japan they had like 3-6 months ago. There had way more users per household then the PS3 or 360.
In other words, the Hardcore gamer played it... but so did his casual roommates, girlfriend, parents, little sisters what have you.
So it's entirely possible that the majority of people who purchase wii's are hardcore players, yet the majority of people who play the wii are casuals. Who may infact purchase their own software to play. Which does seem to be the case looking at the software numbers.
