Oh. I guess I won't buy a Vita before Christmas, because I tend not to buy things before judging them.

You joking, right? They put Uncharted and LBP there, they are making PSABR for it. They announced several good looking games at Gamescom. Yet they got nothing in terms of games? Why so negative?

Those are only three games.  And they haven't/won't move(d) any systems.  The Gamecom's games won't do much either.  They're either too niche (Tearaway), fugly (CoD), and/or won't do enough to move systems.

No games = no killer apps

He said NO games from Sony. There are 3. How much you expect within a year from Sony? Uncharted doing well, it certainly moved some units. LBP just released and let's wait for PSABR.

PS3 got this type of shit-fortune-telling and it came back from there, Sony is known to support their machines, so let's wait.

He's right though.  What does Sony have coming out in terms of games?  Just LBP and PASBR.  The rest of the holiday lineup is Activision (CoD), Ubisoft (AC:L), and EA (NFS).  LBP and PASBR aren't gonna move systems, the former bombed in Japan and really won't do much at all in the West either.  So, you may be annoyed, but no matter how you slice it, he's right.

You don't need to rely on "fortune-telling" for anything, this is the here and now.  Sony doesn't have the games to push its own system.  We don't need to wait and see, we're talking the present... this holiday season, not the future (and that's not looking good either).  It is what it is.

That's why I said it has a situation much like PS3. You said the same things about PS3 and it is doing well for last few years. So, don't be so brave fortune-teller now lest you eat crow later.

Yeah sure, you have a point there BUT we have to take in to the acount of the changes in the battlefield here. Sony doesnt have the 'money' and PS vita didnt have the 'psp' momentum as compared to ps2/ps3.

The only similar aspect that is happening to the Psvita and the 2006-2008 ps3 is that they both sold below expectation. And the 2006-2008 Ps3 didnt even really sell as horrible as the Psvita did today.

Yay!!!

Yes, but the PS3 situation, though bad, wasn't nearly as catatrophic as the Vita's is now.  And like Wh1pL4shL1ve said, the market and financial climate is a little different this time around.  Sony doesn't seem to have the bailout funds they had to invest in the PS3 to do something similar for the Vita.  The PS3 also had BIG games on the horizon like MGS4 and FFXIII that people knew were coming.  Same for the 3DS when it was struggling.  Vita doesn't really have that luxury and Sony is completely dependent right now on 3rd parties to push their system for them.  It's not a good situation.

The ps3 was critisized at the start for costing close to 700euros here, sure it's pumping out 200k a week now but for close to 1/3 the original price, I wouldn't really be eating up my saying that the vita was in a bad way atm if they started to sell them for 80 odd euros. Saying that obviously it would cost sony money like the 3ds did nintendo when they whipped 100euros from the price of that and sold it at cost, but wouldn't it be worth it just to get everyone out there walking around with their system?

@benao87 They didn't say that the sales were unacceptable, of course they wish they sold more, they've said it several times before already. Summer sales are usually crappy, Vita just especially so.

The Vita though, has a lot going for it; games, apps, features. It's amazing, but I think they messed up their launch. The earthquake and flooding delayed it from a holiday release last year worldwide. That probably reduced its launch potential due to the low sales in Japan after launching there, kind of scared the rest of the world from buying the Vita. News coverage was very critical of the system for its Japanese sales. Japan should not have gotten the go ahead on schedule while the rest of the world was delayed. Japan had the weakest regional software lineup and Sony tripped up their sales for the rest of the world that way.

A simultaneous February launch would have had more success, kept higher numbers leading up to the summer and prevented a lot of negative publicity due to low sales. They didn't generate more sales by launching in Japan on time, hell a Golden week launch would have worked more in their favor. Vita has become a cultural target, it's market faith is well shaken and all for immature reasons, but hey, that's how the market is and Sony has made its mistakes. I just wish people were a little bit more decent and educated.

I never said they stated that sales were unacceptable. My coment was towards the declaration of Sony that "Sales were acceptable". Then, why would they bother releasing this PR if they want to stick to the "acceptable sales" statements. But, never mind, perhaps if I were more decent and educated I would have a clearer view of whats happening.

Sorry, only the first paragraph was to you. You making a point that Sony said sales were acceptable indicates that you are suggesting they have changed their minds...which would be to unnacceptable. I was pointing out that Sony hasn't changed their acceptability position regarding the current statements. There is a difference between acceptable sales levels and desired ones.

I'm not sure what kind of conversation you were hoping to derive from witty statements like the one you made. Perhaps rhetorical, but don't be surprised if someone respondes.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
