Forums - Gaming - Am I the only one who DOESN'T want new consoles soon??!!!?!

Honestly reading these and other forums, sometimes I think I'm in my own boat on this issue. Why do gamers want new consoles? Is there some sort of money growing tree I'm not familar with??? There is a lot of power still left untapped in the both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 and it's a shame that people (mainly the younger audience) does not realize this. Maybe it's due to impatience, but it annoys me. Here is what I'm talking about.

Check this out.

This is  video of 2006's release, Call of Duty 3 (X360) Look at the horrible textures/animations/framerate ect.

Now watch this.

Gameplay of 2012's Black Ops 2. Same console. Same developer. Six years later. Little bit of a difference right? That's with a third party developer who makes games for usually 6+ consoles; meaning they don't get a lot of time to develop specifically on one platform.

I'd post more examples, but the videos would make the page really long. So I'll just list a couple of them.

Multiplatform: Oblivion (PS360) vs Skyrim (PS360)

Spiderman 3 (PS360) vs The Amazing Spiderman (PS360)

               Assassin's Creed (PS360) vs Assassin's Creed 3 (PS360)

                             Nba 2k7 (PS360) vs Nba 2k13

Exclusives(XBOX360): Gears of War vs Gears of War 3

Forza Motorsport 2 vs Forza Motorsport 4

                                                     Halo 3 vs Halo 3

Mass Effect vs Mass Effect 3 (Yes 3 was multi but I decided to put under 360 section)

Exclusives(PS3): Resistance: Fall of Man vs Resistance 3

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune vs Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Honestly I couldn't think of a lot of ps3 exclusives that had sequels later on in the ps3 lifecycle, but I think you guys get the idea here.

It's naive and ludacris to beleive that these consoles are done. Now, I'm not a poor person. But, I'm certainly not made of money. I'd prefer to wait until AT LEAST E3 2014 for a new console announcement.

Hopefully some of you agree with me. Comment and give me your thoughts/opinions on this subject, when you think new consoles are bound to show up, pricing, ect.

Peace :p

No, I'm fine with my PS3. So many games to play, old and new ones.

Not a matter of wanting but no i absolutely do not see the need for a next-gen.

Thank goodness somebody sees what I see. lol. If games are improving each year, and most importantly consoles are flying out the door (minus the wii) then why make new ones?

i want a new console. i am disappointed that only nintendo is launching this year.

I do want new consoles but in the same way I want Half Life 3 or the Final Fantasy VII remake. It's not that I personally am interested in those things, but I'm sick to death of hearing people talk about them.

well, I have many many current gen games to play (big thx to psn+), but I'd kinda like a next gen console by ~2014 because blurry 720p(or lower) with jaggies and bad frame rates are a bit of an eyesore to me..

I think new consoles should be delayed for as long as possible. On the other hand, I'm also super excited for any details on new consoles because I just love all the hype, specs, and new possibilities. I can wait a few years for that, though.

this is the progress ....
