Another news showing the same thing... Wii U is not that powerful when compared with PS360... of course it is more powerful, nobody deny that but it's seem like what I said before 1.5x better than PS360... can reach 1.8x or a little more with optimizations? Of course... but the gap is low.

Anyway Trine 2 is boring... I loved Trine but the second game is meh... it lacks something that made the first Trine good.

Can't say for sure without knowing all of the specs, but I'd venture to say that what we know so far puts Wii U somewhere in the 2x as powerful territory.

I supose my 1.5x from what developers said until now... like the Trine 2's developer in this news... looking only the specs I have the feeling:

CPU - Less powerfull than PS360
GPU - About 1.5x better than PS360
Memory - About 2.5-3x better than 360 / 4x better than PS3.

I hope that third parties really enjoy working with Nintendo this gen. No business problems or technical problems. Lets just have a smooth ride this time around. No more drama like we had with the Wii. Which had Technical power problems, and business problems with the games not selling up to par.

Well if sony and microsoft decide to launch consoles a generation ahead of the ps3/360 then it's more than likely going to really affect nintendo.. considering WII u's increase in power is probably equivalant to the jump Wii made from ps2.. when comparing the jump between Wii u and ps3.

Clearly, the Wii U is a lot more powerful than that comparison.  The Wii is only about 50% more powerful than the GCN, (which was clearly 50% more powerful than the PS2) and the details shown so far would be around N64 to DC at minimum.

What details shown so far? An open world game that really pushes hardware this gen like Assassins Creed III doesn't run any better on Wii u than on ps3/360, if the WII u were SOO much more powerful than the ps3/360 don't you think there'd be at least a slight noticeable difference between the Wii u game and the ps3/360 game? Nothing, absolutely nothing has been shown by nintendo, or any 3rd party studio that even suggests a jump equivalent to PS2-Wii yet.. and you're already jumping at a jump almost on par to an entire console generation..

Hardly anything in the Wii's first year looked markedly better than what the PS2 had at the time. Also, no Wii game to my knowledge has topped what, technology-wise, has been achieved on GemeCube with the Rouge Squadron games. Sure Wii was more powerful in theory, but it never flaunted it. And I'm afraid the same is happening to Wii U at the moment, though the situation could change.

As for Assassins' Creed III, Ubisoft has basically said that they didn't have the luxury of time to make the Wii U version run better. You can choose to not believe them, but that's the official word.

I'm basing it on what is known, not what I feel.

CPU - Unconfirmed. Slower clock speed supposedly, the impact of which depends on the type of CPU being used.

GPU - Somewhat confirmed. It's known to be Raedon-based, which could either allow DirectX 10.1 equivalent features or DX11 depending on the specifics. Either way it's better.

GPGPU - Unconfirmed. Rumor has it that it "squashes" the 360's GPGPU. If so, it should alleviate some problems that could arise with the CPU. Plus it would be awesome.

Memory - As it stands, somewhere around 3x better than PS3/360 is believeable.

Overall - Hard to say, but I think it could be anywhere between 2-3x more powerful. It largely depends on the exact GPU being used, though. That will determine for sure if it can support "next-gen" games so to speak.

Clearly, the Wii U is a lot more powerful than that comparison.  The Wii is only about 20% more powerful than the GCN, (which was clearly 50% more powerful than the PS2) and the details shown so far would be around N64 to DC at minimum.

Fixed.

Incorrect.

The Wii's CPU and GPU are essentially the GCN's but clocked 50% faster.

It also has more than twice as much RAM, and faster RAM as well.

GPU performance is not scalable... sometimes you put 2x more clock and the final result is just 40% better.

Will this shut up all of Sony's and MS's fanboys saying the Wii U is the same as the PS3 and 360?

Only in a dream world...

"Basically that does require... well, not huge amounts more graphics processing power, but still considerable. If we would publish that on the other consoles, then I believe that there would be some small downscaling of what it is right now."

when the developer states trine 2 isn't doing much more than what ps360 are capable of ... well, that's not the exactly helping your case.  but hey!  i hear puddle is 1080p...

We do know the Wii U is more powerful than current gen consoles, as to the next xbox and PS4 is yet to be seen,

I think it's pretty much given that PS4 and X720 are gonna blow U out of the water

Yes, but by how much? To the point where most games are better off being built from the ground-up, like the Wii? That's the ultimate question - whether or not the Wii U can run "next-gen" games in some not-totally-laughable capacity.
