I was told that during the debate Romney said he wanted to increase military spending.. to keep China in check..the ppl who are lending us trillion's of dollar's

can somebody confirm this?

He didn't... I'm confused where anybody could of actually got such an idea from.

He said he wanted to punish China when it cheats trade wise... I'm pretty sure he didn't mean by bombing.

Additionally, Romney never said he wanted to increase military spending.    Obama said Romney wanted to increase military spending... but that was it.

I'm starting to think Romney could still win this one... he was major on the debate.

I'd be shocked.

As much as democrats complain about the electoral college it actually heavily favors them at the moment.

At best, romney MAY win the popular vote, but get crushed electoral vote wise.

I'd love to see that just to see Republicans whine about the electoral college being worthless and democrats supporting it.

There are 18 states who have gone democrat in the last 5 elections, and they have 242 electoral votes.

You need 270 to win.

While Republicans have 13 states that gurantee 102 electoral votes.   That's a huge disadvantage.

Worth noting that while Obama trounced McCain in electoral votes.  He actually only won the popular vote with 52%.

I thought Obama won 70million to 60 million. Wouldn't that be 54%

Still Republicans managed to elect Bush twice didn't they. Romney just have to win nearly everywhere but the most passionate Democrat states. Hardly impossible when the winner-takes-it-all system is still standing.

It's a huge task... but huge may include debates heavily disfavouring one candidate like yesterday, so yeah.

By the way for what it's worth....

Even if you really do believe Romney wants 5 trillion in spending.

It's worth noting, that Obama's tax cut plan actually includes 2 trillion worth of cuts that already have been passed and will happen no matter who is in charge, and 1 trillion saved from wars.

So, Romney's tax cuts are already paid for based on Obama's own positioning on the matter.

That's why i couldn't find is 4 trillion on his website though. Obama was counting stuff that already happened/he doesn't have to do anything to do.

So really he only needs to cover 2 trillion through exemption removal.

Just another example of why I'm still undecided.  Neither candidate is appealing and they are both full of crap.  On the issue that matters most to me, education, they have essentially the same ideas.

I might just end up flipping a coin on election day...

I agree Khan but that isnt whats happening. The rich arent currently getting richer.....

The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting richer. A poor American has a bigger living property than an average European

Perhaps Obama's performance can be related to this:

After all, Romney DID joke that it was a romantic setting for Obama's wedding anniversary. Perhaps he wasn't joking, after all!

ok, I've been looking at a lot of analysis about the debate and I have a question for you guys. Do you think the Romney you saw last night was more real than what we have seen from him for the last year?

I ask this question because Romney took a lot of moderate positions last night. His tax plan doesn't actually look that conservative anymore as he isn't really reducing the tax burden. Romney just looked a lot more moderate than he has been.

Now, Romney comes from a moderate background and has sharply turned right for the primaries. So is Romney really a Moderate hiding as a right wing conservative, or is Romney a conservative hiding as a moderate?
