Forums - Website Topics - What's with the people trolling the game ranking system on here?

It's was actually my first time using that part of the website but it's pretty pathetic that some people are ruining it.  For example the first game I noticed, Splinter Cell: Conviction for the 360, has 2 votes rating it a 7.0 while the DS version of the game has 1 vote giving it a 10.  Keep in mind that the game doesn't even come out until at least April.  The people that are rating games like that should be banned since they seem to be out to sabotage that part of the website.

Including the Sony and MS fanboys that troll Super Smash Bros Brawl? I agree.

/endofsarcasm

It's the fanboys who have nothing better to do. All the top ranked games on nintendo consoles are 8-9/10, but on a sony or ms consle... 7/10, if the game is lucky it will get 8.

In fact: I predict that the top rated ps3 game in 08 (by the media), will have under 8/10 on vgchartz because of the fanboy voting

WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING!!?!!!!

How about we stop taking the rating system seriously? Who actually goes by other people's ratings and review? Think for yourselves, try it, it feels great.

I don't think anyone here is judging games seriously by their ratings in the ranking system. Ideally, that system is in place for people to give their feelings on a game, and for everyone to see what the community thinks of the games in a general sense. Of course, idiots skew the results a lot, either for the sake of mucking it up, or inflating/defalting their favorite or despised games/consoles.

Legend is talking about a game that isn't even released yet. So insulting his intelligence for "going" by other people's ratings, when he's not even attempting to do that, is not needed.  He just wants people to use the system honestly, rather than abusing it.

"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."

The prerelease games are easy to spot and are obviously flawed. But i'd say even released games shouldn't have a voting system or at least with the current setup we have here. Maybe something like a public voting system would help deter trolls going around giving 1s and 10s to stuff they like and don't like respectively.

I still think the best way is to just post a link to the GR/Metacritic average.
