Pretty sure Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes sold well. |
Not to mention it's far outsold both console versions combined (Valve mentioned a while back that ~70% of total sales for the game had been made on Steam). Not to mention many games play much better on PCs than consoles (Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock which were both built on PC then ported to consoles), even if they don't outsell their console versions.
So anyway, that aside, let's talk about these 2 games.
First, they are mediocre at best, and bad at their worst. UT3 was a huge step back for the series, and a mediocre offering for what's been a dying franchise anyway. It's flopping on both consoles and for good reason. Crysis is an even worse game. I played and beat all of Crysis, and it's a ridiculously generic linear FPS game. The only parts remotely interesting are the sci-fi sections near the end of the game, and they weren't anything to write home about either.
Second, Crysis is one of those games that comes along every few years for PC that pushes technology past what current PCs can really handle. As one of those games, it will sell like the ones in the past have... as in, it's going to sell poorly, but consistently, for a long period of time. Add to that that they are making a ton of money on licensing the engine and there is no real issue here...
