Semi-cores?  Does that mean 480i?  Damn, talk about a step backwards.

I see what's going on here now.  Stop trying to confuse others, though.

What do you mean?  It has 480 processors for shading.  It has 480 semi-cores.

For non tech-y guys like me, I have some questions. Maybe you could help:

-In comparision with PS360, is it "better" or just an "ok upgrade"?

-Could it handle games form next generation?

-Is it enough modern to get support from the new engines?

-Could this mean a new Wii, ithe context of different architecture compared to the other consoles?

-Could it handle PC downports?

Thanks!

SD confirmed.

Not Wii HD.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

It's an $85 graphics chip on it's own so yeah it's probably real.

Can anyone explain the meaning of this to us non-tech-savvy people? XD

Features & Benefits

  • GPU and memory in one MCM BGA package
  • Desktop level graphics, multimedia and compute capabilities
  • 480 shader processors
  • 128-bit memory interface with 1 GB GDDR5
  • Microsoft® DirectX® 11 support
  • Third generation unified video decoder
  • Support for H.264, VC-1, MPEG-2/4 decode
  • Dual HD decode, Blu-ray & stereo 3D
  • Up to 6 displays with AMD Eyefinity1 technology
  • AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP)2 technology for supercomputing capabilities
  • 5 year supply with dedicated support3

Which doesn't give much information, but a couple things worth noting:

-that's a lot more shading capabilities than Xbox360 or PS3
-supports up to 6 displays = the WiiU's current max of 3 (which likely be upgradeable in the future with a firmware update) won't be a problem
-matches what else we know about WiiU, like video RAM.

We could've just asked AMD and we fought for months instead?.....

I feel stupid now...

From a mail? i would take it with a grain of salt, but it looks possible.
Would be able to play many thing in 1080 in mid settings with stable fps. Will also depend on what modifications nintendo made to it.

Yeah, I found that and took the video from it.  I think the OP mentioned that it was a rumor before but the e-mail "confirms" the rumor to be true.  The fact that it's an e-mail makes it sketchy though.  It could be true, though.

few more specs in the product brief on the second site:

So it's loosely based on the Northern Islands GPUs?
