I got the number through a friend and she did the same way, but her friend had a hell of a story. I got it the boring way, but check this out.....
Her friend's name is Dustin, and he works at Cingular. He is at work one day with his manager and they're trouble-shooting some problems with customers in his manager's office. When they get a break, Dustin asks if you're able to look up random people's phone numbers...then convinces his manager to look some up while they're in there.
So they're browsing through the list and they find Uma Thurman's number. They high-five each other. they also find David Carradine's number. They high-five again. Dustin then goes back to where he's supposed to be working at on his shift.
Fortunately for him, his memory is pretty amazing, so he types their numbers into his phone when he's out...then goes home to his dorm and tells his room-mate about this. They immediately agree that Dustin should call them both on speaker-phone. Dustin wants to because he can't believe it, and his roomy wants to because he doesn't believe it, you know?
So, they call Uma first...and she doesn't pick up, but her voice-mail sounds a lot like her. Dustin's stoked but his roomy's still skeptical. So Dustin calls one more time...and Uma picks up. "Hello?" Well, Dustin's shocked and wants to cover himself, so he studders out "This isn't S-Sally, is it?" Uma kindly dismisses him and lets him go.
Next, David. Dustin's got the nerves out of him now and his roomy was unimpressed by the last call, so they agree that they're actually going to try to talk to him. They call, and David picks up the first time with "Who is this?" Dustin is stunned and can't say anything...fortunately, this was on speaker-phone! His roomy jumps in and says "Hey, this is Roy Rodriguez. I was deleting some numbers and mistakingly got rid of Quentin Tarentino's home number. Could you give it back to me again?" And David actually laughs and says "Oh Roy, that sounds just like you! Here..." and amazingly gives them his home number.
Quentin's number is obtained, folks.
Now, of course, you know they're gonna call it...but they agree this is the last call they're making. Dustin calls again, and the phone rings, rings, rings...then voice-mail. It was him though, confirming the right number. They don't leave a message, but they're ecstatic that they actually got it and have a good story to go with it.
They high-five.
Now, fast-forward to two days later. Dustin is back to work in Cingular, and he hears his phone vibrating on his desk. He looks at it, only to reveal that "Quentin T" is calling.
Dustin freaks and debates about whether or not he should pick it up. He eventually does though, and meekly goes "H-Hello?" Quentin -- with his distinct voice, mind you -- immediately goes "Yeah, who's this?" with an angry tone. Dustin thinks about whether he should lie or be honest about it, but goes with the truth. He tells him his name, where he works, and the college he goes to.
Quentin says "Uh-huh...so how'd you get Uma Thurman's number?" Dustin admits that he saw it on his manager's computer the other day and happened to remember the number. "Uh-huh...so how'd you get David Carradine's number then?" Dustin tells him that he got David's number the same way. "Uh-huh...and how'd you get my number?"
"Um...my room-mate told David that he was Roy Rodriguez."
"Dustin...that is the funniest ****ing thing I've ever heard in my life. Don't you ever call here again." Quentin then hangs up on him.
