Any idea what will happen with the current slims? Are they going to be discontinued or will they receive a price cut?

I don't get the 12 gb anyway. Its not like 360 where you can play all games still. PS3 has mandatory installs. So you need and have to buy a HDD.
Wow. Shocked at Sony. This is terrible.
One explanation is that Sony would like to actually make money with the PS3 hardware, up until now Microsoft and Nintendo are the only ones who have actually managed that trick. Alternatively they are introducing it at a higher price and they will cut the price once the old stock has been sold through.
If it is the former then that is definitely good news for Nintendo's Wii U.
Tease.
More funny facts - there will be no PS3 250Gb in EU instead the PS 12 Gb will be priced the same as the current models with big HDD :D
Simply put - you get less for the same price :p
I don't get Sony some times. They're raising the prices for something which actually costs less (it would seem), and they're also cutting the price of the PSP in Japan, just as it would seem the Vita lineup is picking up steam. Which can only be bad news.
And the new design seems pretty "meh" to me as well :/
awful move by sony if you ask me. the 360 is definately going to dominate the ps3 this holiday now. still no ps3 for $199
Well, the good news is that all those who couldn't fit their old PS3's into their living rooms now have a greater chance of doing so for just a little extra money.
