Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Doesn’t Think Your Wii U Will Collect Dust~ Reggie also thinks that the Wii had plenty of games the last couple of years, even makes jokes about it!

@spurgeonryan So you are using sales to prove support lol. The Wii and DS use to have those same spots, so according to you then the 360 and PS3 had little support during the Wiis dominate years.

Why does he ask Reggie about the next 5 years and then says himself that nobody can predict what happens? Yeah, its a lot of PR talk but at least he doesn't insult the competition so I don't see anything to complain about aside from the wasted bandwith. But the fact that Wii games don't work on the Controller sucks big time. I wanted to finish Xenoblade on the UPad. This has to be fixed.

Edit: Why did Spurge get banned?

I blame Reggie! :P

@ Dk

How is Reggie keeping it real? It is not true that the Wii had plenty of games. We had very few decent games!

yeah its his fault the Wii didn't get any 3rd party games! you tell him Ryan!

A leader takes all the blame. That is how it should be. Having said that, Do you remember his boss taking a pay cut last year when stocks plummeted? There you go. Whether it is there fault or nots leaders, bosses, Managers, "CEO's" are the ones that did not get the job done in the end.

I never really understood how your brain works!

you want him to take the blame for hardware decisions he had noting to do with?

Iwata did that because of his decisions to what way the company should take as a whole!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

There's certainly a good amount of spin in Reggie's answers. It's difficult to make a case that Nintendo properly supported the Wii over the last 20 or so months. That's not to say the Wii didn't have an excellent line-up of games overall. I've seen and heard a lot of disparaging comments elsewhere about the library of games on the Wii, and I disagree with most of them. Sure, it doesn't compare favorably to the depth of titles offered on PC, Xbox, and PS3, but it definitely had a healthy amount of great games that couldn't be played anywhere else.

Yep, my Wii is dusty, but so is everything in my entertainment center. Boy I need to clean more often.

i am not even sure where my wii is so i cant even tell you if its managed to collect some dust or not ;)

i can pretty much assure reggie that my wii u will never collect any dust though, since i dont have any plans to get one.

Only a Mod truly knows @ bold. :)

Who should take the blame for what happens in this region? What is the name of NOE's CEO? Maybe we should blame him? :P

well if there aren't enough games coming out on Wii as a console there won't be any more games in the US no matter how much work Reggie puts in and you can't blame him for lack of games coming out on the system! you guys did get Xenoblade and the last story eventually!

Nintendo chose a path with Wii which wasn't as powerful as the other two systems which lead it to have less games and who made this decision? NOJ of course! so blame them not a guy who just works with what he gets from the head company.

I still play my wii and N64 religiously, but I am not that naive that I do not see what I am missing. So there is no dust. Goldeneye for life!

My Wii doesn't get as much use as it could, since it's at my gf's place. I only play it there when she is sleeping.

"No Virtual Console or Wii games on your GamePad either. Wii channels and games will be accessible on your big screen, in SD. "Think of this as having a Wii inside our new console," Fils-Aime said."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Come on, Wii I can understand (but am upset with, would love to play Xenoblade on my tablet controller in bed), but no virtual console? Really?

This might get changed in a later firmware update but I cn understand why this won't be there day 1.

The GamePad is streamed a resolution of 854 x 480 which is not a standard resolution for the Wii emulation system used to render the VC games and the Wii U will use the same emulator system.  Thsi would require the emulator to be reworked to output that resolution for all the various consoles it emulates (NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Neo-Geo, etc....) and new code to inform the system that the output needs to be piped out of the Wii render pipeline into the Wii U pipeline and then on to the GamePad.

But, as I noted, this can be fixed at a later point.  And I hope it is.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

These questions honestly should be answered by Iwata.

Reggie doesn't have any say in any of this stuff.

They need to do a better job with the Wii U in terms of content.

Even the N64 had Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Zelda: Majora's Mask, Banjo-Tooie, Super Smash Bros, Paper Mario, etc. its last two years, the Wii being worse than that despite having 3x the userbase and not being crippled by the cartridge format is pretty sad.
