Forums - Nintendo - CAN still pre-order Deluxe Wii U from Walmart... and that's it!

WALMART LINK

I checked all other sites: Gamestop (basic only!), Best Buy (none), Target (none), Sears/Kmart (none), and Amazon (none-never did), Toys R Us (none)

Walmart's will be around a bit longer because they rip off consumers. Instead of just offering the normal sets like everyone else, they force a unique bundle with a bunch of other crap most won't even want.

Wal-Mart Bundle starting at $399
Wii U set (basic or deluxe)
Choice of Wii U game
Wiiremote plus

If you pick the Deluxe set, you'll pay at least $449.

There is no deal to be found in this and unless you're buying a game and a wiimote at launch, its a bad choice.

Anyone have any idea what the numbers are yet? Or what they could be off historical early pre-order numbers?

No, but I'm kinda curious too. I'd bet Nintendo gave them a beginning number and based on the pre-orders, will adjust their manufacturing between the two sets as well as define how many they should push to produce.

So first week, let's say Nintendo makes 1million for US. They tell each company they'll for sure get X amount. This is now sold. But based on the sell rate, they'll adjust the 2nd weeks (black friday), so now Nintendo is saying for the next million, instead of 50/50 or 60/40, make 60/40 or 70/30 respectively split between deluxe and basic as clearly the black deluxe set is the most popular. Maybe even asking for an increase from 1m to 2m or 1.5m etc. Also helps define for Japan (which should be huge) as well as EU (good but less than NA).

Nintendo would be smart to try and build 6m before Jan world wide. That's 2m more than Wii and should easily sell while keeping at a level manufacturing could potentially do in this limited time frame.

I highly doubt Nintendo will get a million WiiU consoles to stores in America by launch.

Please remember that speculators can spur on false demand. Resellers prey upon console launches, because there is no downside. They order in advance to secure units that they can then sell at a profit through online auction sites. If the demand isn't there then they just return the product to the retailer for a complete refund. We should all be familiar with this practice by now.

They made good money off of the Wii. So it stands to reason that they are going to probably try the same with the successor. Hell they tried the same with the PS3 driving sales through the roof. Before they found out that nobody was willing to pay their asking prices. Which had them returning the console in droves. Might be part of why WalMart a brick and mortar is offering a expensive bundle. It entirely obliterates a resellers profit margin. It may prove very smart indeed, because they will be able to get the system to genuine customers.

Just updating thread from yesterday. Looks like Toys R Us is out of their quantity now.

Just walmart's forced bundle and basics at Gamestop.
