Forums - Nintendo - Wii only owners, do you guys own an HD Tv yet?

Got my first HDTV for Christmas 2006, not so much for the Wii but for the fact that my prior TV was then exactly 20 years old (older than me at the time) and it was time to replace. Got my second so i would have something to play games on when i was home from college (because the first TV went with me to college). Got a 3rd at 15 inches wide to take with me to Japan, the smallest, but the newest, and it might be the only one of the three that has HDMI.

I'm going to hope that my Wii component cables carry over, honestly.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Had an HDTV since like '05 or something. We don't live in the Stone Age you know .

Not a Wii only owner though, but the TV predates the PS3 so it wasn't bought because of it.

I don't even remember the last time I used a big ass SDTV or a CRT monitor, it's been too long

I bought an HD TV for my room because of Wii U but we've had one in the living room for awhile.

the good news is that the Wii component cables will work with the Wii U

Have a 32" 720p Sony, a 42" 1080p LG, and two 23" 1080p ASUS monitors w/ built-in speakers (so, really, TVs, as far as gaming would be concerned).

For the beginning of next year, I'll be living in a barracks without much space so I'm going to be taking my PC w/ both monitors and my 360 & WiiU, and hooking the 360 and WiiU to one of the monitors via one of the extra connectors (one connects to the computer via HDMI, the other via DVI which leaves its HDMI connector free).

had my hdtv before owning a wii

I think everyone would own an HD TV by now... just because Wii is not HD does not mean Wii Owners does not use HD TV's. lol

The wii was panned (rightly) for not being HD but when you consider the failure of
PS3/360 to deliver 1080p and the flicker free bold colour 480p the difference between the consoles resolution was less than many would think.

So from reading all the posts in this thread, it seems unanimous that it wasn't Nintendo fans who needed to do some catching up getting into the HD era... it was Nintendo themselves lol.

Ironically enough I'm a not a Wii only owner (also purchased a 360 a few months after I got my Wii back in fall '07), but I didn't get my first HDTV until February 2008 just in time for the Superbowl, which was several months after I actually owned an HD console lol. Used to have both hooked up to our old 36" CRT Panny that was nearly 10 years old and weighed a ton, and it was like night and day when I hooked them up to our new 50" Panny plasma. I was even impressed by how sharp the Wii looked at 480p. The neat thing was I was finally able to play some old GC games that output in 480p like F Zero GX, and man did it look better than ever too.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
