Forums - Nintendo - Could some please explain to me exactly how Co-op words on SMG

So tonight I have convinced my miss's to play a game co-op with me tonight (SMG) but I need to know a few things,

I understand that 2 people control the one character.

Do we use seperate controls altogether or do we share the one? (Nunchuck+Remote)

What part should the better gamer (Me obviously) be using, like what involves more?

What are the individual tasks per person playing? (What will I be doing, and what will she be doing)

And most importantly, is it fun? (It's most important that she enjoys this over me)

I can't wait to give it a go but it just sounds a little messed up (2 people playing one character) but I've heard a few people saying that it's actually great,

Thanks.

The first player controls Mario just like anyone would.

The second player just cobntrols a second wiimote. They collect stars like you do with the first wiimote and also can shoot them like you could with the first wiimote.

Okay cool, so I can collect stars also? Does the 2nd player perform spin attacks?

No, but player 2 can emit a holding area that can stop enemies and some objects in their tracks. This can be used to destroy hard to destroy objects such as rolling boulders by holding one up and letting the 2nd one roll into the 1st one.

Edit: Maybe... I am not sure...

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

Player 2 can also force Mario to jump and spin attack by hitting A while pointing at him. This can be used to be helpful, but is more likely to be used to sabotage the other player once they figure out how it works.

Yea it's hilarious once you figure out you can make Player 1 jump and spin attack as Player 2. But the stunning enemies is pretty helpful, I prefer it to someone else using up my precious star bits.

Neat. I just got this game today as an anniversary gift. So i haven't had much time to expierement.

Gotta admit it's much better then my previous expierence with it would suggest.

I don't like the 2 player mode much.
I'm not sure, but I think that the 2 player can make the green platform to not disappear.
He can also make the 1 player to jump twice (jump-spin-another jump)

Wii Fit is rapidly beating PS3...

Playing now: Apollo Justice, Majora's Mask

Going to play: Little King Story

"As long as there is a Triforce, there will be a Zelda  As long as there is a prosperous kingdom, there will be an evil that wants destroy it And as long as there is an oppressive force running Hyrule, there will be a boy, in a green tunic, with a silver shield, and a magic blade, to stand against them."-The Legend of Zelda

My wife and I play together and she loves the second player because there is really a lot you can do. Freezing enemies is a big help and she loves stalling the boulders to make them crash into each other which emits a ton of star bits. Player 2 can also put out the fireballs that Bowser shoots at you, as well as making the Bob-ombs blow up, and Bullet Bills pause in air while Mario can make then change direction so that the 2nd player can release them to fly in that direction, (this is great when try to get them to blow up the cages). I think that the co-op mode is done superbly well and is a lot of fun.

Every second 2 people die . . . What if this is your second?

The second player can also save you sometimes. Like, if you've jumped off the edge and the second player is fast enough to click on you early on in your fall, it can cause you to jump even though you don't have that capability yourself. And the second player can also make you jump higher when combined. I've helped my son do that one time, and he saved me when I fell off a platform a couple of times.

Take turns so you both get chances to do it.
