Forums - Gaming - So where does Bayonnetta 2 exclusivity to the Wii U Rank all time in Gaming media surprises?

Surprising, but not really a huge deal either way. The thing is, a lot of the people who liked Bayonetta REALLY liked Bayonetta. In that sense, I can understand their annoyance with Platinum. I hate to see any game go from multi-platform to exclusive, it feels like the the studio values the money from the console manufacturer over the loyalty of the fans. It's not something I like to support, personally.

It is something of a coup, though. Not that the franchise is that huge, but that it's a sexualized hack 'n' slash, which seems to be something Nintendo wants to prove they can provide.

I loved that because the developer always make a better work with exclusives.

I'll love to see the developed focusing Batman: AC in just one plataform.

Is sad to see lots of people on twitter or forums prefer not to have Bayonetta 2 than having it only on WiiU.

I prefer it only on PS3 but that's not possible... so I prefer it only on Wii U because the developer can really use the new techs with pad.

Dragon Quest IX and Resident Evil exclusivity on GameCube was probably bigger.

Final Fantasy breaking from Sony exclusivity was pretty huge too, even the Wii U will probably benefit from that this gen (so thanks Microsoft).

Resident Evil + Capcom 5 was the big one for me. But that happened like the day of Sept.11th, 2001, so it was like incredibly weird, all this stuff was happening and then there's this major Nintendo/Capcom announcement. Surreal.

Id argue that its just a culmination of the events which started when many Japanese developers deserted Sony and the Vita for the 3DS in the last few years.

If Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter wasn't enough proof, now even these "indy" devs are jumping on board with Nintendo's home console too.

Id imagine the Wii U has potential to become the new Weaboo console of choice.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Nintendo is publishing the game so a port to non-Nintendo plattforms can't happen

If another company publish the game the port can happen... that's happen everytime in the game market.

Ehm somewhere in the lower range if you ask me. It is Bayonetta guys, not Final Fantasy going multiplat - THAT was a megaton that made MS won a whole E3.

599 USD was another megaton. Not a good one, but a megaton.

GTA IV going multiplat with exclusive DLC for the 360 was HUGE.

MS buying RARE was surprising.

Gabe Newell praising PS3 was a surprise.

Project Natal was a surprise.

But Bayonetta becoming a Wii U exclusive is nothing too dramatic IMO

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Nintendo is almost certainly funding the game too.

A game Nintendo financed is never ending up on any other platform. I believe this was the case with Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes as well.

Once Nintendo puts a dollar into the development of a game -- it's sticking with Mario. Lets put it that way.

I've said this in another thread...I don't think nintendo scoring Bayonetta 2 as an exclusive is,in itself, that big a deal in the grand scheme of things...(although I'm a fan of the first game so I'm excited as i will definately buy a wii u...having said that, if it had come out on a rival console I would just as likely have bought it anyway)

I do think nintendo picked Bayonetta 2 up as part of a larger plan ie to win the loyalty of platinum games in order to get them to develop more games for nintendo in the future and if these are exclusives then I do think it's a big deal. Platinum games have a lot of potential and are one of the best new(ish) game developers around, exactly the sort of company nintendo needs. If they can set up some sort of RETRO like or early RARE relationship with Platinum, it could amount to great things in the future.
