Forums - Gaming - So where does Bayonnetta 2 exclusivity to the Wii U Rank all time in Gaming media surprises?

Maybe, maybe not. It sold almost 2 million (over 1mil on the PS3 alone), so there would've been a stong case for a sequel. Also, they take the risk of losing the fanbase they've started to build by making the game exclusive to a console that nobody owns.

Who really knows what happened, we'll probably never know...

I was very surprised, but part of that was because I didn't even know there was going to be a Bayonnetta 2. It's not an earth shattering surprise because it's not a super popular game. It's really a very niche game. When RE got a partial GC exclusivity that was a shocker because it left it's Playstation fans and went to the supposedly family friendly Nintendo.

Personally I don't like 3rd party exclusives because I think it limits the market for the game. I believe only 1st party games should be exclusive, all others should port to as many platforms as possible.

As for Bayonnetta 2, it's not my kind of game. I played the demo for the first one and didn't like it. I didn't like any of the DMC games either, nor do I like games like God of War or Dante's Inferno. Mashing buttons and racking up combos before hitting QTE's just isn't my cup of tea.

With that said I think Bayonnetta 2 will sell just fine on Wii U. So long as they don't spend too much money developing it, which I doubt, it will make it's investment back 10 fold. It's the kind of flashy stupid fun people are looking for at a console launch.

Examples: Gabe Newell showing up at a ps3 conference and releasing a game for the ps3, RE4 GC exclusive, ect...

I think its pretty high up there, the gamers reaction to it is actually hilarious

This I think tops it. Not because it was jsut shocking, but the tming couldn't be worst.

Two weeks before the gamecube launch, meaning it killed any possible extra sales.

This is a shock to me, but not as bad ebcause well the game wasn't ready to launch and the owners of those consoles didn't exactly get kicked in the balls last minute.

It's surprising..but not THAT surprising imho.

Any chance Platinum will cave to the immense pressure to bring it multiplatform? Just been on Twitter and the amount of death threats and port begging is just gargantuan...

I liked the game thought it was different & some what unique . shame the sequel was cancelled ,shame none of the other publisher picked it . Wish someone other than Nintendo had picked it up & kept it Multi-plat, cause for as much as i enjoyed Bayonett don't see myself buying a Wii U anytime soon or ever. but good luck to PG .

I think they have a contract to keep it exclusive at least for a period of time. After that they may go multiplatform. It depends on how the sales go. The game is a bit out of place in nintendo library, so it wouldn't be surprising if it sell like crap. But it's a new console, the competition from other titles will be small, it may pull out good numbers if they release it soon and the game doesn't suck.

I was very surprised, especially considering the type of game Bayonetta is. I'm predicting it will sell horribly and go multiplat, just like No More Heroes for the Wii and most of the early 360 JRPGs.

though No More Heroes is actually one game that sold 3 times better on the Wii than the PS3/X360 ports combined.

Bayonetta sold about 2m copies right? If a game like this didn't profit off that, then they clearly wasted a lot of money...
I liked the first one, but this doesn't make me mad, unlike Rayman Legends exclusivity (which I also think it will be only temporarely)

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Hummmmmm FFXIII multiplat is way way way way way bigger.
