I think Nintendo TVii and Black Ops 2 are game changers for the Wii U launch. Plus seeing more of Nintendo Land, it's obvious that's going to be a hit in its own right, even if its not Wii Sports.

Mario is the ultimate safety net for a launch.

Bayonetta 2 + MH3G are a good way to build good will with the real hardcore community. All those things combined help the Wii U look like a very attractive launch window.

I do wish they were launching a week earlier though.

Lots of phone calls about it?  When I was trying to preorder the empolyee first had to answer 6 calls about the Wii U, though I just played some 3DS demos while he was busy with the phone.

After that he had to print out the instructions on the procedures on preordering, cause I was #1 at my gamestop woot and he didn't know the procedure for a new system.

The console is going to be sold out for a while, there are a lot of Nintendo fans out there that want this console.

I think there's going to be three crowds of people showing up day 1 --

 

1.) Nintendo fans - Mario + Nintendo Land seals that deal.

2.) Wii fans/casual gamers/women - Gotta have their Nintendo TV + tablet play + Sing Party + Just Dance + fitness games, etc. etc. etc. Wii U is still going to hold the crown for the "party game" machine. Even Kinect now is old news, time for something new for this crowd -- that's Wii U.

3.) Hardcore gamers - Bored of the PS3/360 and given nothing "new" to buy for years now, I think a lot of this crowd are going to buy in just to get something new. Content like Zombi U and Rayman and BLOPS 2 will make Wii U credible to core gamers. And deep down everyone loves a little Mario.

Got my Deluxe preorder in a couple of hours ago and even though I will have to wait a week to play it when I get back from my college for thanksgiving, I can already determine that I will be spending most of my time with it that weekend.

After all this great Wii U news yesterday high sales are to be expected.
