it's more than likely going to be 300-349 for the 8GB model, and 349-399 for the 32GB model.. absolutely horrible

Damn, no one reads my OP. 3DS is 15000 yen yet it's €170, despite the actual exchange rate. That's the ratio I'm following, it's pretty consistent. 13000 yen for the controller=€150, etc.

It's the same calculation that makes the PS3 launching at 800 dollars back then... or more.
299 at most, and even them would be strange to me. 349 most for the premium version.

I didn't say 399.
My calculation makes sense because it's the same as the 3DS in Japan and the West right now, I'm not translating the prices straight.

I understand you... to me it's plausible... I just don't think so. Maybe with Nintendo Land included it's more likely

I understand what you're saying, but the 3DS was sold at that price because Nintendo was worried that the dollar would fall to being worth less than 70 yen ...

Ah... nevermind then. I agree 399 is not gonna happen, I'm 70-30 leaning towards 349 (premium) with possibly a game.

The dollar-yen exchange ratio has remained pretty unchanged since late 2010 though and they still went for the 170 tag with 3DS.
But we'll see!

I think you're right. Nintendo needs the safety net + VAT difference with Europe, which is 10-15 percentage points.
