Which Android did you have? Just curious.

All Android phones I tried have the same issues reported by him.

For me the Android is the worst OS... WP7 is better and iOS is way better.

I like when I don't need to do anything to work fine... Android is a pain in the ass.

Perhaps, that will help you choose which phone to go by.

Perhaps not, who buys a phone to make phone calls anyway.

I've had two Androids. Samsung Fascinate and Galaxy Nexus. Fassy had issues that were all related to Samsung's BS they put on the phone. GNex has been a perfect experience in every way. I've had friends with same issue on Fassy and zero issues on phones like the original Droid, Galaxy S3, Razr, etc.

Additionally, it seems the phones based on Android 4.x, even with their OEMs specific stuff, are universally perfect as well. Finally, I've heard just as many complaints about iPhone. Funny recently by brothers GF really wanted to change her HTC Evo 4G to a iPhone 4S as she knew it would be perfect and her HTC sucked (that one did too btw). So she got her 4S. Not even a two months later she is hating it as much as the HTC and she wants the Galaxy S3 that my brother has as its so much better.

Fact is, it took iPhone quite a few OS iterations to really get solid. Hell, even the 4 had major connection issues for many if not most. You just have to get a good phone in the first place by reading reviews and not going for the cheap crap models. There has also NEVER been a bad Nexus proving that Android as a pure OS has been solid. The Nexus would be the equivalent to an iPhone in that it is what Google intends. I also have another buddy who jumped to a 4S who has been just waiting for a deal on the Galaxy S3 as well to go back. He's the one who had perfect experience with the original Droid.

I've said from day one that Google allowing manufacturer/carrier skins is setting back their OS significantly. Nothing I've seen from Android has deterred me from that opinion.

Nexus phones are great devices. HTC Sense is awful. Google needs to force carriers to use their default skin and they need to force carriers to guarantee update cycles (they'd addressed that point somewhat). Until that happens, I doubt I will return to Android. There just isn't anything there that makes it "better" than iOS. I don't care about options if the stock hardware/software works well and Apple has done a fine job of making their hardware run their software and apps buttery-smooth.

IMO, the most interesting company is Microsoft but they keep sitting on a shotgun and pulling the trigger at every opportunity. I worry that they've bungled too many things to ever become relevant again. It's a damned shame, too... Their UI is miles better than anything else on the market and Nokia is making some damned fine hardware to complement the OS. I'd love to see them become a real player in the market.

iPhone 5 will be a great phone, but for it's price, it just can't compete with the other leader phones like the lumia 920 or the galaxy note 2. Specs on these phones, don't bother me, as we know all 3 are capable, fast sleek devices.
But Nokia wins just because of the extra features they built into it's phone. Windows Phone just got a load more features while, iOS just got slimmer. iPhone may have 4 inch screen now (we have 5 inch screens in phones now, keep up apple!), but it's still the same phone to me, as older iPhone's. The camera and screen tech are just incredible in the lumia 920 (being able to use your phone with gloves on, is pure win!). I would still pick the Nokia lumia 920, even though iPhone 5 is here, it just seems alot better phone for everything. It won't stop the apple fanboys though, let em have it!

That's the point. Nobody wants a phone with 4" or 5" screen... I want to buy a Phone, not a Pad.

3" is perfect... 3.5" is fine but already big.

Apple should at least release a cheap old style 3.5" iphone and a more expensive 4.3" iphone, at the same time. I spose it varies from person, but my current phone has a 3.2" scrren (HTC wildfire) and it just seems to small, while I get 3.5" on my ipod touch, which is decent. But i would rather have a galaxy nexus (4.7" screen). The galaxy note II is really big (5.5") but i would not mind owning one! To me, 4.3 inches is the perfect size and anything above 4.7 inches is a bit excessive. And if no one wanted anything above 4" on their phone, how come the samsung galaxy s II and the samsung galaxy s III sold so well?

Apple keeps one size of phone purely for developmental reasons. Developers love only having to code for 4-5 devices versus the hundreds of configurations for Android devices. It creates a clean, simple development cycle that churns out better apps faster and cheaper than possible on Android.

Plus, most customers don't seem to really care. Loads of them bought 3.5" screened iPhones for five years (the small screen size was the main reason I left the iPhone camp but now that they've upped that to 4", I'm returning to the fold).

Yeah I suppose so, but if Apple done that, surely it would be no different to when the ipad first launched, which has plenty of support now. But enjoy your iphone 5!

Yeah, I would have liked a slightly larger screen as well (I really like the size of a 4.3" screen) but I understand why they did it. Right now, developers only have to code for "2 1/2" resolutions for iOS. The original iPhone (x2 resolution for 4/4S) and the iPad (x2 resolution for iPad 3), and now an extra ~20% width for the new iPhone 5 (my "1/2" a resolution).

Ok cool, 4" is not bad though. But something's weird as the videos I saw about the phone, somehow make the screen quite abit bigger, even though there's half an inch difference, i didn't expect half an inch to make much difference to ios. It will be a good phone regardless, despite few hardware changes other than the screen size change. I guess we all expected to much from iphone 5 over the 4s when it came to new features
