Forums - Gaming - New Kindle Fire vs iPad vs Nexus 7 vs Surface RT vs Playbook

drawbacks:

Kindle Fire series - its basically just an Amazon based media tablet vs real tablet.
Nexus 7 - no expandable memory
iPad - cost (seriously $200+ more than anyone else for what a rear camera, I have my phone for that)
Surface - maybe cost or maybe just app selection
Playbook - its a blackberry product

I still think Nexus 7 is THE best tablet out there right now.

btw, iPad3 and Kindle Fire HD 7 or 8.9 have CPU/GPU combinations that are *barely* less than Vitas. By end of this year I still think Vita will be equalled in terms of raw power by phones and tablets and eclipsed in 2013. Throw in bluetooth controllers.... bam.

If the Kindle Fire HD can be rooted, might get it, they're finally selling them in Europe. If not, I'll just get a Nexus 7.

If the iPad Mini comes out next month, it will be a hard decision...

Always going to suggest the Nexus 7 as it has been consistently rated so good because you get so much for so little. This thing is turning me into a casual gamer.

There was supposed to be a mini ipad developed early on called 'iTouchKids'.

It was cancelled for obvious reasons lol. It was a real Apple product in development.

Yay!!!

By that Nexus 7 looks weak.

To be honest Tablets with Windows 8 will rule the roost.

Its the best OS out of all of those. It rns more programming languages and has more than 20 different tablets in the pipeline.

I take my operating systems open thank you. And I doubt anyone trusts your pimping of MS. Still you buy one product and the next day someone makes a better one.

Reason I will be upgrading almost every year.

I genuinely think Windows 8 will sell massively. By years end as previous wndows 7 Windows 8 will have sold more than 1 billion by January.

Their tablets are going to b very popular.

Did an edit that is less of a whim post, but still I would never not get a tablet without an open operating system as it allows so many people to create and continually improve on applications for the tablets. I see no reason to be a slave to things made by a company that uses closed systems, but hey that is just me.

I see...

Regarding Windows 8, I'll be buying a 13" hybrid tablet/laptop next year when the 2nd gen devices come out.

At the moment, I don't know to much about Amazon's new tablets but they might be a contender. While, the playbook should not be on the list, unless you like blackberry. Nexus 7 is great (although, it's cheap worthwhile alternative), but can't compare to the already successful iPad. And Microsoft's Surface tablets I think could become a huge hit and possibly the future of tablets (windows RT (8) is a full OS that comes with Microsoft office, that's a big deal on it's own). For the moment, the iPad and nexus 7 are still the top tablets, but Microsoft Surface/ Windows RT will be huge. It shall be an interesting time for technology
