Forums - Nintendo - Developer talks Wii U, can do full HD at 60fps, and has great memory

So... 1080p, 60fps with streaming to a tablet in a 2D game with no bottleneck? Sounds reasonable.

Be interesting to see what his views are when he starts 3D development. I suspect most devs will stick to 720p and 30fps but with a lot more advanced effects on screen then was possible on PS3/360.

Can´t they stick to 720p and 60fps while keeping more advanced effects?...considering the system is apparently 2X as powerful as 360/PS3.

Depends on the developer, the game and what they want to acheive. Many devs seem to think 720p and 30fps is good enough and see that they can push lots of advanced effects to make their game look amazing. This way they also get beautiful screenshots for marketing and word of mouth about how amazing it looks (see Uncharted, God of War, Crysis etc.).

Whilst 60fps is definitly possible (and probably still with some advanced effects), they'll have to cut back some of the effects to make the game run smoothly and maintain that framerate. I suspect we'll see 60fps mainly for fast paced shooters and racing games.

I think what's mainly impressing him is that the system is rendering 2 images. One on the tablet and a 1080p60 image on the tv screen. Which is all nice and dandy. What others want to know is if it can do this while rendering a game like The Last of Us. Possibly with split screen and 2 tablets?
