N ah 5-7 m is to high. I would say 4 million at best.

It will only sell more if it release on PS4 too.

It's worth noting that people were saying exactly this about Uncharted 2.

Uncharted 2 was a sequel, scored incredibly well, was bundled quite a bit, timing was amazing (PS3 slim, price cut, successful ad campaign)... it's just not the same situation as TLOU at all imo.

If the same can be said for TLOU (aside from being a sequel ofcourse) then it maybe has a good chance.

People seem to forget that uncharted was bundled a few times with new PS3 consoles. And during the holidays at that I believe.  Whereas there is no telling if TLoU will be bundled.

Believe me guys nothing would make me happier to see The Last of Us selling 7 million copys.
And in fact i never say that it is impossibloe but there are many factors that say against it.

1. It release really late this gen ( sure the pS3 wont stop selling and the games wont stop selling too once the pS4 hit the markets) but history have told us that games releasing late in the gen doesnt sell so well.
A good example is God of War 2 which is wax better than God of War 1 but it managed to sell less than the first one because it released late in the gen.

2. The Last of Us is a brutal game whyle Uncharted is a not so brutal game. Uncharted 2 is a game which not only hardcore gamers buy also the casual ones buy it because of its funny charakter and its indiana Jones image it also has a lot of casual appeal. Will this happen for The Last of Us too?

3.With each year the PS3 is selling less and nce the pS4 hits the market it will also sell less. So what do i want to say, even bundling will have a much smaller impact on sales with each year.

4. Its a new IP.

5. more games release each year which also mean more games can eating the sales of this game.

Thats the reasons why i think that 5-7 Million wont happened. But i would be glad if i am not right about this.

Have seen the E3 video, and I still feel the same towards the game.

That felt like playing a game and watching a movie at the same time. I'm (still) curious about the many sequences in the game, whether or not they're mini cutscenes or part of actual gameplay through QTE or what have you. I'm talking about the clobbering, grabbing and breaking free sequences, as I don't see any visual cue as to which button we should press.

Also from what I've seen Ellie is smart enough to not get in the way of the player, unlike Mass Effect companions. I also like the audio cues from the characters.

Speaking of multiplayer, i would actually love a mode where i can be one of the creatures.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I don't think anyone debating has forgotten that, it's just not the only reason the franchise has done as good as it has. The bundles (mainly in Uncharted 2 & 3's cases), were much more holiday items than universal, yearly bundles.

And when do consoles tend to sell the most?  During the holidays.  Therefore the bundles probably boosted the sales of Uncharted games throughout the holiday season.  I'm not saying that is the only reason why the franchise has done so well, but it did help the sales boost by a bit probably.  Considering how well the PS3 has done the past few holidays.

The first Uncharted has sold over 4m with not much bundling.

I agree, but only if one player gets to be Joel and another is Ellie, and they have to kill as many of the creatures as possible - similar to Left 4 Dead's Versus mode.

I'd argue that the original Uncharted had more bundling than both 2 & 3 (had that 80GB bundle in the States for quite a bit), but yes, much of the sales of all three titles come from indivdual buys.

Can I see sales records?  Over the past few years I've constantly seen PS3 ads offering an uncharted bundle of some sort when watching TV.  I'd say bundles played a big part in helping it reach the higher sales numbers.  Also, Uncharted 3 is still being bundled with PS3 units...

It sold 2.6 million copies by e3 2009, and in that year it wasn't bundled at all really, so that means at the very least 1.6m copies where individual buys, and out of those 2.6 million how many would you say were from bundles?
