Forums - Sony - The Last of Us - Pax Demo - Proof that it's not scripted

this was an awesome video...to an hopefully awesome game :)
i like all the aspects which were shown in this video...
you have stealth, shooting and meele attacks...plus good interactions between the characters...
now i want to see some gameplay with the infected and other environments.

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

As many know im a huge Uncharted and God of War Fan. And whyle God of War Ascention is simply my most wanted game ( because Kratos is the greatest badass in videogames and i like the greek mythology) i truly cant understanand how any can say that this game isnt revolutionary.

I have never seen better reactions to fire and gunplays in any videogame. In the gameplay video you see a scene where Joel shoot some guy and you see how scared Elly was in that scene.
The enemy KI is phenomenal and shows us what next gen could offer us.
The graphics are great ( not as great as God of War Ascention) but the details are simply the best in ány video games.

This is by far the most impressive i have seen in any videogame in a long time.

But hater gona hate no matter what ND will offer us.

Jeremy Jahns was at PAX Prime, and here what he thinks of The Last of Us.

I am really excited about this game, it looks very thrilling and unlike most games. The only annoying thing is they announced it in December and we still have no release date. If they keep hyping it like this, the might overhype and people will be dissapointed when it finally releases.

i didn't watch much, because i don't want to see too much of the game, but just that little scene where he boost her up to get the ladder, she climbs and struggles, the sign moves, she looks down to him again before she gets the ladder, goddamed that is pure athmosphere, pure love for detail, pure immersion, just show me any game that does that kind of real acting just for a fetch scene!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I must admit that I was somewhat wrong earlier when describing this game with "just being heavily scripted", as if it's nothing impressive.

Let me explain. This video still shows that the game is heavily scripted. But, it seems scripted in a sophisticated and complex way, a satisfying way. Dallinor described it accurately on page 2 in this thread what's going on in this game:

Wow, the entire gameplay segement is completely different depending on how you approach it. While you can surely approach situations differently in different games, this game seems to have an intricate series of scripted moments that switch according to what you are doing.

The bolded is spot on. ND's approach in this game's design is to use an intricate web of scripts to achieve satisfying AI (or the illusion of AI) and dynamic gameplay.

I have still to hold judgment before more footage is shown or game is released, but now my evaluation is that it's heavily scripted without very much independent enemy AI (compared to a game like MGS Ground Zeroes which definitely will have much more independent and dynamic enemy AI), but it seems so well scripted that it feels dynamic and natural enough for a genuine experience. We will see.

At the moment, after seeing this video, I am quite impressed by the game.

i seriously wonder if i was to go into a zombie u thread and call everyone fanboys repeatedly for being excited about what imo looks like a pretty boring and mediocre game if i would be able to get away with it like what i'm seeing in this thread

never, and everyone knows it!

One thing I really am impressed by is the brutality of fighting in this. I genuinely felt like fighting other human beings in desperate struggle for survival. The visceral feel of killing someone with a concrete block or metal pipe rang more authentic than any game I've played. I am curious how the infected play as this game continues to impress with each glimpse I get of it.

I actually dreampt about this game last night after seeing this demo... I need help.

On a related note, I'm sold on it now.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that this will be the last piece of footage on the game i'll be watching until I get my hands on it myself.
