Forums - Sony - Crysis on the PS3.

Lets not get too anti-console with that post. My PC could run Crysis on medium settings (no AA though) with an average of 30fps and the graphics looked better than Far Cry on the PC. Based on the videos, I think that Haze looks better with the environment at least (looking at jungle segments) on the PS3 than medium settings of Crysis on my PC. However, character models looked awesome even on medium on Crysis.

True, but Crysis really is a beast to run.  The PS3 definitely couldn't do High Settings at 60 FPS though.

3) Games using the UE are not that detailed, a PC which can get 120FPS in UT3 can only get 27FPS in Crysis, BTW Vista sucks, just keep playing in XP...

Yeah i've heard gaming performance overall is still better on XP but for Crysis I'd figure Vista would be the logical choice.  Everybody that talks about the game describes it as average or above mediocre but nothing special except of course for the insanely amazing graphics.  The graphics being such a huge part of what makes it special Vista would certainly help as AFAIK you need to run Vista to utilize the DX 10 features in Crysis.

I understand and I don't doubt that the PS3 or 360 would be able to match Crysis (at least at this time), but there is one thing where consoles have an advantage over the PC and that's the hardware. Sure, it's not like you can upgrade it, but since the developers don't have to worry about all the different kinds of hardware that you can have with your PC, the developers can put the time and effort in to optimize the game, a game could end up looking nice on a console. Kind of like seeing MGS3, God of War 2, RE4, or SoTC later on in the PS2's life, the games are only going to look better on the PS3 and 360 as time goes on and tools get better.

Now.... I'd think the real question would be, how much time would they put into a console version?

I've heard that the first half was good, but the second half was much worse. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much more than graphics from the developers. I disliked Far Cry so I didn't have much trust in them making a much better game. However, from the short time with the demo, I noticed that they did improve the cut-scenes and voice acting so if anything, that gets a huge 1up from me after the heart stoppingly bad acting in Far Cry.

I fully expect this on PS360, considering the sales. All big PC FPS games should come out on next gen consoles too and most will.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

What so good about Crysis anyways? (besides the graphics)

I think your "PC sales are crap" theory got shot down in another thread recently...could you at least address that before just continuing the mantra?

edit: BTW I agree it is likely we will see a console version..I'm not convinced it will be both consoles but I think it makes a lot of sense if they can do it.  Either way I do want to see it because it will be interesting to see the differences.
