I don"t think you guys should disclose who reports what, those anonymous for a reason, even if it is obvious as hell.

And i'm not gonna complain about my ban i served it and i'm ok with that, it's just a bit silly i got banned for it, "pansies and circlejerk"
Pansy -"someone who lacks courage" they lack the courage to change their attitude here
Circlejerk - "slang term referring to a positive feedback loop which occurs when an idea, belief or meme that is already customary within an online community becomes re-iterated and rewarded in a perpetual cycle, giving rise to redundancy, clichés and karma whoring. This phenomenon is typically observed in communities consisting of self-contained forums devoted to specific interests, beliefs or subcultures.""
Hating outside vgc on certain users

I hope you guys look a bit more at the meaning behind certain slang.

btw IF i noticed my ban earlier i actually would have followed up on my statement ( probably)

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

The irony here is pretty funny.

Since I'm posting in the thread, I guess all also give the mods a review. I think you guys are great at following the rules. That's great, but it has imo helped create a posting enviroment in which the rules feel like the law of the land. Instead the mod's group opinion should be percieved as the top dog. Far too often I see debates on moderations with people arguing their interpretation of the rules, instead of if the moderation benefited the user/community. You guys are a great group of people. It'd do this community good if you were percieved to be the law(but don't be stricter!)

Any other time, sure, I agree with you.

This isnt really a "usual" case though. toastboy has been told to cut out his bait threads in the past already, so when he makes a new one and reports everything straight away, it just makes it obvious. His reports are key to the whole thing.

I'm on mobile but sure.

Yesterday you decided to not ban kirby. He clearly broke the rules, but you decided not to do anything beyond an informal warning.

I agreed with that. The rules need to act as guidelines, not laws.

Well, my own opinion on it was much like yours. As you know I originally didnt ban him for it.

It was only after further reports from people he upset and a small discussion with some other mods, that I decided to drop a ban on him for the night.

For a more recent case - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6320263

I was literally ready to ban him, for obvious reasons, until Rol said he didnt want anything done to him. We decided to agree with Rol when I brought it up in the mod chat.

We dont enforce the rules as strict as we could do, honestly. A lot of what we have to deal with are borderline things and we do disagree on things in the mod chat. There does come a time though when certain users hit that "borderline" time and time again, so we take action.

When we do take action on these borderline posts, or if we moderate quote trees, or we moderate spam... It isnt done "just because", its done because either a) they have had warnings for it already or b) what they are doing is ruining the forum experience for another user.

It may make us look like we are being too strict, but honestly, I think we have hit a fine balance of firm but fair.

HAHAHA WHAT A PANSIES just because they couldn't control themselves

such a circlejerk

Insults and flaming. Attacking other users for any reason is never acceptable.

  • Do not insult someone's religion, race, sex, sexuality, nationality, political beliefs, or gaming preferences. Debate is encouraged, as is civil disagreement, but respect the beliefs and opinions of others.
  • Similarly, do not insult without justification any group of people, be it a religious group, political group, or anything of that sort.
  • Don’t use slurs (gay, f*ggot, n*gger, etc) as insults, even if you’re not using them maliciously.
  • Do not personally insult other users. This includes calling them fanboys or trolls.
  • Report it when another user insults you instead of insulting them back. If they report you and no one reported their post, guess which one of you gets banned? The moderators do not have time to read every post in a thread, so they will often miss things that are not reported.
  • In general try to treat other users with respect and courtesy. We understand debates get heated, but don’t lose yourself in them. Remember you can’t continue the debate if you’re banned, so be respectful to your fellow forum members.

reviewing point 1 till 6 and i didn't do any of those

You called them pansies and said they were having a circle jerk.

Like I said in the pm to you, you were moderated for a mixture of both. On one hand, calling them pansies is unsulting them, as poor of an insult as it is. On the other hand, the circle jerk comment was seen as baiting.

You already said you had no problem with the ban and youre cool with it, so why are you dragging this on?

I changed my mind like the kid i am

EDIT: didn't MAX establish that we could use certain terms when supported with reason and well founded argument?

I admit i didn't post the reasoning because it was pretty clear or so i assumed in that state, ( the explanention of the words and reasoning in the post above should suffice )

What exactly did the user do wrong with this post ? How is that intended to piss off the PS fans on this site ? Even if that guy did have a history for trolling PS base it seems a bit paranoid to moderate based off of implied port begging.

No offence to the mods of course ...
