Not being SILLY Anywayzzz,Here is an example....
Ex: Truck (One of the mods here) and myself plan on doing SSB tournies in the future (whether that means in 1 thread or separate), but does that mean if somebody else wanted to host their own thread for SSB they CANT!? They have to follow mine/Truck schedule???
At first this doesn't sound too bad but it has MANY FLAWS. Especially in the cases of Big Games such as Destiny/COD/MK/etc, Here are the list of them below...
⇒All The Power Goes To A Single Person
⇒Who Ever CLAIMS The Official Thread is the one to do it (This could be problematic)
⇒Host Rules Time and Schedule (Most important): The guy who does a tourny is the one to put out the time of when the event starts. Usually are the Week End Days. Problem here is everybody has different schedules and things to do. If one person controlled this then how can many of us play unless there are other Tournies Represented
⇒One Person Is not enough (For big games such as MK+SSB), Ties in with the reason above. If the person is absent/late/etc then we all cant do a tourny/etc intill they come back?
Its BS! Since When is there a rule to say you cant make a game (with your own thread) cuz somebody else has their own?
Lastly, No control in an official Thread. People who wnt to play but cant change the op/give out specific times to ply cuz only the User who owns the thread can change this wont have a way to let others kno when something is up and running. This has happened in the past many times. As The1 who didn't kno MK7 tournies was going on.
When i hosted tournies i made a thread and organized Messages thrughout the community!!! :)

Creating a consistent expectations for tourneys is a good idea.
I think where this got out of hand is that ED was denied the privilege of organizing an "official" MK8 tourney thread, presumably because Conegamer and NinPie already "own" the series.
Given ED's love and support for MK8 on this site, it is reasonable to let him organize official tournaments for Mario Kart 8. In fact, I practically expected it prior to this fiasco.
I think the policy towards who can organize an "official' tournament should be something like this:
-A member in good standing
-More or less recognized as a #1 poster/enthusiast of the game -- regardless of their affiliation as a mod or member of an "official" something else
EDIT -- I nowrealize having to many "official" anything can be confusing. So let "unofficial" be sanctioned following the criteria above
