If Im being silly and missing something, feel free to tell me to shut up.

Not being SILLY Anywayzzz,Here is an example....

Ex: Truck (One of the mods here) and myself plan on doing SSB tournies in the future (whether that means in 1 thread or separate), but does that mean if somebody else wanted to host their own thread for SSB they CANT!? They have to follow mine/Truck schedule???

At first this doesn't sound too bad but it has MANY FLAWS. Especially in the cases of Big Games such as Destiny/COD/MK/etc, Here are the list of them below...

⇒All The Power Goes To A Single Person

⇒Who Ever CLAIMS The Official Thread is the one to do it (This could be problematic)

⇒Host Rules Time and Schedule (Most important): The guy who does a tourny is the one to put out the time of when the event starts. Usually are the Week End Days. Problem here is everybody has different schedules and things to do. If one person controlled this then how can many of us play unless there are other Tournies Represented

⇒One Person Is not enough (For big games such as MK+SSB), Ties in with the reason above. If the person is absent/late/etc then we all cant do a tourny/etc intill they come back?

Its BS! Since When is there a rule to say you cant make a game (with your own thread) cuz somebody else has their own?

Lastly, No control in an official Thread. People who wnt to play but cant change the op/give out specific times to ply cuz only the User who owns the thread can change this wont have a way to let others kno when something is up and running. This has happened in the past many times. As The1 who didn't kno MK7 tournies was going on.

When i hosted tournies i made a thread and organized Messages thrughout the community!!! :)

MK8 "rebellion"? What in the world are you guys up to? -_-

Will anyone be allowed to host tournaments (using the Official MK8 thread) or is it just Cone and NinPie that'll have that power?

Hm, maybe this is where the problem lies.

In the Official MK8 Thread people are allowed to hop into the VGC Community and race each other or organize little tourneys at any time they want to. All that ConeyG and I will be doing are official-type "Tourneys." This is where we will track peoples placement in the actual events where hopefully everyone will join in. However, we aren't trying to restrict everyone to playing at just our times. How in the world would we be able to do that anyway?

Not a MK8 rebellion! More of a "VGC User's Freedom :p

What is the problem with NinPie doing an official "Tournament thread", where people can organise stuff amongst eachother?

NinPie is active enough that he can update the thread, contribute to discussion and join in with tournaments. I see no problem with it.

If Im being silly and missing something, feel free to tell me to shut up.

The plan is that NinPie will be hosting "ranked" tourneys at particular timeslots; but that doesn't mean there can't be additional unofficial ones there either. These will use a different community code and will work very similarly to that seen in the NintenDomination thread (with regards to MK7 ofcourse).

In other words, that'll be a kind of "practice" room where if you're on at the time you can play with whoever is there. In the first few weeks I expect that to be relatively busy with everyone trying to get the upper hand!

Apologies if that was mis-interpreted in any way. More accurately; apologies if that information wasn't passed on to you guys

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

We have no problem with that. Both Conegamer and NintendoPie can host tournaments as they see fit. The problem is they're trying to limit to that freedom to themselves only. They say if anyone else who tries to host a tournament, they will be moderated.

How utterly embarrassing...

If people want to have their own thread for whatever, what could possibly be the rational for not allowing it? The whole concept of thinking a place like this need 'official' threads for anything is ludicrous in the first place.

How about this: If anyone feels they want to have their own thread for whatever, let them do it. If there is a need for the thread it will live, if there's not it will die.

Oh noes! There will be two or even more threads with different players playing Mario Kart tournaments??? So fucking what?! The player pool is diluted? Oh no! If that's what people want then let them dilute the fucking player pool, who gives a shit? The forum will be difficult to navigate? Right? Complete BS, the forum is already overrun with all sorts of completely irrelevant crap, if someone wants their own little special club, what could possibly be the problem?

This smells heavily of people wanting to hold on to control of 'their' thing as if they have some sort of first dibs on official this and official that and if someone wants something else then threaten with bans and warnings. Ridiculous! This is a goddamned videogame forum, not the UN Security Council. If someone wants to have their own three player Mario Kart league with shiny images and sparkly stars, fucking let them! And finally, to anyone in the moderation theme that thinks this whole business with 'official' threads and delegation 'official' responsibility to users over certain topics is a good idea, I recommend a good long look at what this forum is and what a moderator should be for.

Great post! I just hope you don't get banned for it! xD

Oh no, you wouldn't be able to stop us, that's for sure! Not allowing us to make our own threads does make it harder though, which is the problem.

But by not allowing others to host in a thread "Ex: MK8 Tourney June 25th 5:00pm EST" how can the mass know? When their are huge long threads people do tend to look through them (obviously), but with new threads it gets more highly noticed at that time.

Also if I or anybody else wanted to do a tourny, how will we let them  kno? If I post Tourny tis Mon in your forum right, how many people would see it? Maybe 5-10 people, and some will miss it completely because  it'll be lost in pages before!!! So with a new thread everybody (the masses) get to see it and the one hosting can set all the rules/etc for themselves there!

Its a win win!

I see you failed to respond to my last comment aimed at you. I wonder why that could be!?

OK, so anyone can host tournaments as long as the official thread is used, but you and Cone will take care of the Official Tournament. If that's the case I don't see any issues with it.

However, if the demand for tournaments is too high for one thread to take care of (in a civil matter) a multi-thread solution might be necessary (as in one Official and one Unofficial or something like that).
