By the way if that underground movement thing is still going on. Consider recruiting me. I think I can be a valuable asset to the movement.

LOL xD #UndergroundMovement

All im saying is you could have been more respectful instead of what you did.  Im not saying SC was right in what he said, but i understand why he moderated you as well as others.

As for the bitch part, Ive never been a big fan of calling someone a dick, asshole, bitch, whore, etc from anybody you dont associate with directly because we really dont know what is true and what is just gossip.

For the record ive reported people in the past for people getting called dick etc

Hey how come I was never invited to the #undergroundmovement? Have I not proven myself worthy of the cause?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

You will be one of the first to be invited to the great infinity and beyond!

he should have banned her 15 instead

The next time you call any person or company any insulting name are you willing to take a 15 day ban? If a man cheats on his girlfriend with 5 girls he's also a bitch. No sexism here. Just because she's a woman she should be exempt from being called out on her unfaithfulness and promescuity?

You called Phil Fish a douche. You said that Square Enix was ruled by morons. Are you willing to take 15 days for those? Why do you think that insulting women is a worse offense than insulting men?

Anyway, I want to drop this honestly.

I think that starcraft made a huge mistake and the fact that looking back a few pages in this thread shows that there were a bunch more instances where I think he dealt with things wrongly make me feel that he isn't very fit to be a mod right now. He can improve though so I think I'll back down for now and see if he messes up again. There are mods who used to be awful, but seem to have improved. I wanted him to admit to being wrong (saying Kantor thought it was wrong isn't admitting to being wrong) because I really dislike the idea that I can't disagree with or talk back to a mod because he might ban me for flaming. And apologize for generalizing guys getting involved as pervs. And maybe even see him get banned but that one is a stretch. :p

I do feel Talal makes some good points.  While it may not have been respectful it really wasnt sexist either, if that is what it was moderated for

1. Lets be honest, what you said was not a joke.  It was a subtle jab because you disagreed with him.  Could you have disagreed with him in a more respectful way?  Why yes you could have.

2.  Dont call someone a bitch.  Bans are based off progession, not action btw.  SO unless they skipped the 1 day, 3 day, 5 day, and 7 day ban, then i wouldnt complain about 10 days

3.  He didnt call everybody pervs.  ANd looking through the comments when people are calling someone bitch, slut, etc they should have been moderated.  People act as if these people dont exist.  Its simply disrespectful.

she cheated on her BF with 5 guys. if that isnt being a bitch i dont know what is.

Female insults/slurs like bitch are not tolerated, but anyone can call Phil Fish a dick or a douchebag. Both people deserve the insults,  but one gets punished and the other does not.

Edit: Dang, I was late on the comparison because I didn't check the most recent page.

Hi Talal

To the best of my knowledge, the only moderation that was flat overturned, was yours. Other ban lengths were reduced - all of those who contacted me were advised that their bans may be reduced once I had a chance to talk to other mods - and some were. One was increased.

Enter this thread. Some 20-odd posts ago I apologised to you for my error. Hours before that your ban had been reversed and expunged from your record. I then asked you to consider dropping it, having received an apology from me, and an acknowledgement from the head mod.

Instead of doing this, you've gone on to pretend I have said things I didn't, continue to argue that I said them when others have pointed out I did not, and are now suggesting that another user who I am certain thought he was 'just joking' absolutely deserved his ban.

I do not get it. You were ahead, you had an apology in hand.

I made an error, as humans are prone to doing, and apologised to you for it. Beyond that, there are at least as many compliments to my form of moderation in this thread as there are insults (and Cone has already pointed out which ones you're more likely to get). What do you consider a the definition of an 'unfit' mod to be? Again, I have apologised - beyond that I just don't see what I can offer you. Aside from unilaterally declaring that for the hundreds of moderations I have made without incident, I am an appalling mod for the handful that people (normally the banned party) have complained about and the *one* that has been overturned.
You said you'd like to drop this, I don't understand why this didn't occur a while ago. However, my genuine question (as ultimately this thread is about feedback and improvement) is, assuming that this happens again (with me, or any other mod or user), how best do you think we can deal with it when its determined a mod has made an error in judgement? Clearly you were not placated by an apology and reversal - what other options should we be looking at?

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

"Kantor has decided it was an overreaction on my part, as is his right. I have stated that I'll be guided by his direction in like-circumstances in the future. I apologise that I caught you up in the (myriad) moderations in that thread that were upheld."

This is you apologizing because it is expected of you. Not because you realized you were wrong. It's just from your "apology" you can easily tell that you were not convinced what you did was wrong. It was Kantor's call "As is his right". Don't get me wrong I'm not a cry baby that's demanding a sincere apology for the hell of it. I need to know if you realize that your personal opinions affected your moderations and apologize for that. Because I don't want my favorite forum to have mods that I'm afraid to disagree with. If you do not recognize that your personal feelings affected your moderations in that thread then you will continue being a bad mod in my humble opinion.

"No, it is proof of nothing.
What it is, is an excuse for the perves of the internet to try and insert themselves without merit into the sex life of a woman
"

This is a direct quote of what you said. I was one of the people who was getting involved in the scandal. I Thought it was very fishy that she dated 5 guys in the industry and that her game got a lot of press. I did point out that there was no evidence to prove it so we should not claim that she did, but I still find it very fishy nontheless. Since you conclusively said "it is proof of nothing" it is only an excuse to get into her sex life then that must also apply to me.

As for the user who called her a filthy whore and asked for her email. He's implying that he wants to contact her since she's a "filthy whore". Yes it was a joke but it was out of line. And way different than simply calling her a "bitch". Or are you comparing what he said to what I said? I don't get this part.

I covered most of the answers to these questions above. A few things though: A mod can be unfit in many ways. In this case I think you're unfit because your personal feelings got the better of you. A mod should not allow that to happen. A similar example I can think of is Khan a while ago. Khan used to get so heated in threads regarding Nintendo and EA causing him to make questionable mod decisions. Now he doesn't do that anymore (At least I haven't seen him do it in a long time). Back then I used to think he was unfit too. I decided to back down on this because who knows maybe it was a one time thing and you won't let that happen again.

TL;DR: Had you said something along the lines of "I'm sorry. I made a mistake. I let my personal feelings affect my moderation" instead of "Kantor thought what I did was wrong and he's head mod so, sorry" I would have taken the apology and left it at that.
