Or maybe realize people are having fun and that these threads actually has brought in new users to the website for their positive and friendly nature.    While you guys have been driving people away you really cant say the same for lets say our threads which has driven a ton of traffic, brought in new users, and has shed light on a much more light-hearted thread.  Now lets not make a problem out of nothing as you seem to like to do.

now i dont expect everybody to like these threads.  That dont bother me.  Its here for the people who want to have fun and enjoy a gaming forum without all the drama constantly. a place for people to relax in other words, and that my friend has been a huge success.  Whether you like it or not, you can not deny that people come in and enjoy these threads, make new friends, and find news all in the process

Regarding nation threads. Yeah sometimes they can get a bit spammy and off topic, but honestly most threads can and do. As long as it is only a small temporary diversion it shouldn't be a problem. I've seen/participated in some small off topic discussions in other threads and it isn't long before it is properly on topic again. So the nation threads don't really get special treatment in that respect as it is common among all threads. I think the reason it may appear worse is due to the number of users and posts made in the nation threads, ideally the users in those threads will know when enough is enough and bring it back on topic. Maybe that just needs to happen more/faster than it currently does.

Pretty much this. I just wanna reiterate that at no point in the past or in the future have/will I comment in the Xbox Nation thread because I was instructed by the mod team to do so. Even if I was I wouldn't do it, let alone go to such extremes as I do now wit the frequent posters in the thread (talking to them often outside of VGC). That's not the kind of guy I am. I wouldn't "spy". Regardless of what people may think I posted and continue to post in the Nation threads because I enjoy them, I think they're cool and can be useful.

What Kapi says is what I've been trying to do when there have been complaints or when things get out of hand. Yeah, off topic discussion from time to time is fine so long as things return to the initial topic at the end of it, so long as there's not a definitive pattern. But, well, we've heard plenty from this both over the past couple days and before (and you may well be fed up with it Ka-Pi ) so it's no point trying to say anything else IMO.

BEcause it isnt a problem.  We can go back pages upon pages (lets say 20 pages) and see 95% xbox talk to an occasional comment that jokes around with each other because we enjoy talking to each other.  We arent robots and we arent expected to act like robots.

BS.  I have the very post in my inbox that says otherwise.  Do you honestly believe nobody noticed that you didnt ever show up to these threads until you became a mod?  LIke for real Cone, do you take people as being dumb?  Now listen, its your job to monitor this website so i nor anybody else would have taken offense if you would have been straight to the point in the first place but you lied about it.  Then you continued to try and twist things in your favor afterwards.  It was like you didnt realize that everybody was up to date on everything that was happening.  Yeah you guys have modchat but do you all honestly believe people on VGC dont talk outside of VGC?

Now cut the crap and be honest about things.  If you were just honest i wouldnt have a problem with you.  All you ever had to say was, Yes Axum wanted me to keep an eye out on this thread but i also enjoy it so thats why i comment.  That would have been better than the bs you feed people

I keep seeing the notion that Nation threads hold a gang mentality and that the majority of users only stay in that thread... I'd like to see examples please. I mean, there are a few, but it's most certainly not the majority of let's say the Xbox thread. The majority of REGULAR posters who comment in that thread, also comment outside as well.

Gang mentality isn't the correct phrase here IMO; perhaps more "seperate community". When you have a seperate community; you're going to have the people in it defend each other and talk to each other differently than they would elsewhere in the site. You need only look at users like Ryuu, or posts like those over the last hour of so in the thread to see what I mean. Let's take some examples from you. How about this one? Or maybe this one? There's other users as well, this post maybe? Or this? These are just a small, small sample of posts that have nothing to do with Xbox News and, indeed, could be said to be taking a jab at the mod team if you were to be really mean (most of these, not all). Why not moderate them, then? Because to an extent, regardless of what we say or what we do, the nation threads will still be a community. Don't feel bad, I've done it as well. It's not a problem with me if Ryuu wants to stay in the one thread even if I say otherwise. It's his choice and that's OK. But trying to say that it's not a self-seperated community from VGC is wrong.

I mean, what do you want Slade? Do you want me and the other mods to moderate all of these posts for off topic spam and ban people left and right, or would you rather we be a little more leniant with the rules and only clamp down when things are at danger of getting out of hand and well away from any actual discussion like they potentially are here? I'd assume the latter, but who knows.

What I'm more concerned by really is how out of character this post is. We've discussed this countless times before, here and on Skype, explaining what I've said above really. Was I unclear about something? Is there anything which needs clarifying? Not sure who this is directed at but hopefully this will help answer some of your questions and see things from a different perspective. Not everyone likes the Nation threads, after all and these people arguably have legitimate issues with them. It's just...tough to decide what to do. I like them personally when they do foster on topic discussion and when people do post in them to chat about any random game. But when it breaks down into pointless spam and off-topic nonsense, then I can't say I'm a fan of that.

What I’m seeing posted from you here in those links all look like harmless inside jokes. And to clarify, my post above had nothing to do with the mod team, so I have no idea where that notion came from... I was only asking for examples of regular posters who stick to that thread.

I see nothing wrong with a small off topic discussion now and then, when most of the comments always go back to Xbox related news. Plus one of the mods said that same thing. About having a little off topic discussion is okay, as long as you go back to Xbox news, which is what we always do. Since the nature of the thread is going to be more lenient becuase it is a Nation thread.

When it comes down to bottom line... people should feel free to post where ever they like. This is the Internet. I understand for the dislike for the Nation threads, but I also see them as a value as well. And out of character? I was only asking for a response from Rol, but I've seemed to get a lot of unnecessary assumptions directed at me, which I don't understand.

My original post was entirely directed at what Rol said.

Well that may be what Axum's intentions were but that isn't why I post in the thread. You seriously think that I would talk in the Skype group as much as I do or indeed comment as much as I do were it just to monitor the thread? I don't think you're dumb, I'm just asking you to believe what I'm saying and what I told you months ago when this came up, with comments removed from other parties involved in the chat:

"...So I posted in there with words to that effect, people started replying, I posted a few more times and it sorta went from there. Because everyone was so nice and the discussion was very fruitful

That's the aim though, right Jay? I'd say you definitely tick those boxes because you won me over

-

Thanks. So I suppose you're correct. I would likely not have posted in there were I not a moderator, but that doesn't mean I was ever, ever looking to ban or moderate anyone.

-

I was there just to have fun. Still am"

This is what I sent you and that was 100% accurate. That is exactly as it was and that is my opinion. Axum had no say in it; I didn't go into the thread or stay in it just because of what he said. This is the last thing I'm going to say on this matter in this thread. I'll leave it up to you whether or not you wish to believe it or not.

Yeah I see that now Slade, no worries or anything. Just wanted to post and say what I was thinking and how I feel about the whole thing, and that seemed like as good a place as any to jump in but yeah, I agree with a lot of what you say but this is VGC and these are the rules.

Apologies for any "unnecessary assumptions", that wasn't the plan!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

JayWood, no one's telling you to like ConeGamer or not, but I'm just going to pop in here to say that enough is enough with this whole thing between you two.

There's no point in going on with this whole "he's here to regulate us/I'm here to participate" back-and-forth. You don't have to believe him, but what he says is what he says, and you can both argue until you're blue in the face and nothing will change... so let's just move on.

Both JayWood and Cone, no one is barred from posting where they want to post, and that won't change now. As long as the user is contributing in a healthy way, there is no problems. I'm not saying that you can't (constructively) criticize, but specifically, the whole "Cone Intentions" thing has gone far enough.

But I really don't want to hear about this again guys, I really don't. So here's my warning, if it comes up in the forums again, it earns a ban. So if you two want to discuss it via PM or whatever, go for it. But this isn't the place for it. So let's move on from this particular incident.

Now I have to post a lot in other threads to get this out of my forum buddy. Poo.

EDIT:

*looks down*

Sweet. Now let's move on.

EDITED: Smeags says to shutup so i will
