Only question is, does the cardboard box play Nintendo games? Cause if not that wise, wise man is very, very dumb.

Sure it does, they strapped a Gameboy Colour to the inside

WiiU cartridge-based confirmed.

Batman: Arkham Asylum on a cartridge would be pretty damn cool actually.

No, it's not. You want to know why? Because everyone doesn't own a PS3 or 360. And even those who do may wait for the Wii U version since it has improved gameplay thanks to the new controller. I mean, why not? You will buy a Wii U mainly for the upcoming Nintendo games released for it, so you might as well get the superior third party title versions while you are at it?

Bottom line: It is not stupid at all.

The phrasing of the statement ("It is stupid to buy a Wii U to play a game you could play on your PS3 or 360") makes it pretty clear that this is under the assumption that "you" own a PS3/360. Since, you know, MegamanZX, who I was addressing, does own one or both of those consoles, which is why he said "I could play on my PS3/X360" in the first place.

I still agree that it would be dumb to buy a new console if the ONLY games you are interested in playing on that console are games you've already played on other consoles.

My bad, I read it as "play on a PS3/360".

However, the underlined still stands. It is not stupid to buy third party titles for your Wii U. Even if you already have an HD console.

It's not stupid to buy third-party multiplat titles for the Wii U. That's not what I was saying. And I don't really want to narrow it down a whole lot and just flat-out start calling people 'stupid', so let me rephrase:

If I own a PS3 (I don't), and I've already played Arkham City, and I'm not remotely interested in any of Wii U's exclusives, I don't see why I would buy a Wii U just to replay Arkham City with a new control scheme. I'd have to be a pretty hardcore Batman fan to drop $250+ to play the same game with slightly different controls. This applies no matter how many multiplats you throw into the mix; I can play them all on my (hypothetical) PS3.

The only reason to buy a new console is usually for the exclusives. For Wii U specifically, there may be some other selling points depending on the individual: future Nintendo first-party staples, known functions of the second screen, Miiverse. But I strongly doubt "playing my old games with different controls" will be the primary reason for purchase for anyone.

The line "You will buy a Wii U mainly for the upcoming Nintendo games released for it" seems to be where the confusion is. I will, yes -- well, those and a couple of third-party games. But MegamanZX evidently will not, nor will many others, and they're the market we were discussing.

If this really launches at $200, then Nintendo might not be as dumb as we think. $200 would really be competing hard with current-gen and next-gen systems.

If Nintendo actually prices their console at this price, then they have a real shot at winning next-gen again.

I just hope theyre not selling them at a loss. I love nintendo.

Yay!!!

I don't think it will be $200 ...

But not because of the fact that this would be cheaper than the ps360 like many of you assume.
Because the ps360 are way overpriced compared to manufacturing ...
hell I got my 360slim for 111bucks and I saw ps3 for 179bucks on sale already and I doubt those retailers are selling them at a loss ...

so you think the wii u will cost more than 200 because ps3/360 are overpriced and cost much less to manufacture as the price is?

not sure if i understood you correct but that would be exactly the reason why wii u could be so cheap, if ps3/360 are really overpriced and cost a lot less to manufacture it would also mean wii u  wouldn't cost so much to manufacture as some might think.

or do you believe that because you think wii u will be also way overpriced compared to manufacturing as it is the fact for ps3/360? then it would make sense

We dont know how much the manu price for the wiiu is ... its all speculation.
But some say the pad is $50-70 alone in parts without assembly and if we take the rumored parts its not that cheap either.
But those are just rumors and nobody really know for sure.

But it could also be $200 if the rumors are wrong like someone said ... its just a big controller with a 480p non multitouch lcd so it might maybe be only $30 in parts and if the 'performance' is only a little better than ps360 and not like 4x faster then yes the other parts might also not that expensive.

And it will also have no hdd? which will also knock of $30 at least of the price (111bucks slim was the arcade one without hdd)
But if we take the specs some rumors offer (the best ones) its hard to believe its $200 (maybe parts only and assembly at best)
If they want to make $0 or at minimal loss off hw sales maybe it will happen if its not performing like 4x the ps360 but maybe 1.5x
