I think Vita will do around 5m by the end of the year, doubt Wii U will do that in less than 2 months. It will be close though.

We have to remember Nintendo's manufacturing difficulties. Wii U's not going to be as hot out of the gate as Wii, but it will also likely be available in lesser numbers.

I was just having a talk with TWRoO here about the dreamcast and he showed that DC's first fiscal year was... 5.55 mi.

Anyway... not a chance. Wii U will not be another wii. It's not disruptive. But if Vita doen't react in sales soon, that may happen sometime. Wii U must not be a disaster though.

Honestly, it depends on launch date, price and shipment numbers ...

If Nintendo surprises everyone and launches in early October, selling the Wii U with a game for $299, and can maintain a steady supply throughout the rest of the year, they could sell between 4 and 6 million units by January 1st 2013.

Oh, i have no doubt that Wii U will be sold out through the end of the year, if only because there is precedent with the solid start the 3DS had, and the fact that Wii U is more likely to be supply-constrained, the question is where Wii U settles once the dust has cleared by next April or so (remember 360 was in pure supply-constraint mode up until about April 2006)

PSP first holiday season in all regions stood about at 3.6m starting October.

If PSvita does similar numbers it will end up near 6m...
