Forums - Gaming - EA: we had a "rocky start" on Xbox 360 and PS3, but our new IPs and Frostbite will dominate Xbox 720 and PS4

Sports titles are released on every console possible. That and this are very different tho. They are talking about new IPs based on Frostbyte engine. I'm sure at least 1-2 of them will be on a lot of platforms. But for yoru theory to become true, there are a LOT of Ifs involved. Since they specifically mention the next xbox/PS here...I don't see any reason to think otherwise.

But there's always a chance of ports later on I guess

Yeah I seem to have mis-read the article. And there are a lot of ifs involved, but if (there it is again) the WiiU is powered competitively and dev-friendly, I see no reason not to port the games over. Let's hope so anyway.

I'm all for good competition (no seriously I am)..cuz I think that is the reason why I love the sony first party now...they had to step it up and they did and everyone benefited

but I honestly think Nintendo are to be blamed here as well to a certain degree. If (lol this is catching on to me as well hehe) Eurogamer is right about 1GB for gaming bit...ninty is setting themselves up for a similar situation as this gen 3rd party support wise. These are consoles that are meant to be in the market for a while and I honestly think 1GB is horrible. This gets worse with the CPU info/rumors. But we should wait until the console is out to actually judge. Imho if these info is on the money, then ninty needs two things

1. Insanely good and big marketing campaign

2. Some games like Wiisports to really suck the crowds in.

They mentioned it wouldn't be far behind the other 2 next gen consoles so im sure it will be able to run whatever EA makes for them. Honestyl if EA doesn't give the Wiiu some of those new IPs ill be kinda mad as it seems like Nintendo is trying, but they can't do everything. I mean it apparentaly doesn't cost much to port it to the wiiu and Nintendo are offering incentives for developing for it it just seems weird to me.

If the spec info Eurogamer has put out is true...then no, ninty are not trying...at least not thinking long term

I mean trying to encourage third party developers to put games on their system. In terms of longterm their fine with 1gig in my opinion though I wouldn't mind more though I heard 1.5 gig in some of other thread on here and another 500mb for the OS idk I can't wait till its all revealed though.

If they aren't gonna provide a system/hardware that is comparable to the competition, they really can't fault 3rd parties for their lack of focus. 1GB for a system that should be in the market for years to come sound pretty bad. Add the CPU info/rumors and situation gets worse. This is not how you should encourage 3rd parties. But yea we should wait for the final release for proper judgment of the situation.

Well I don't know why this news is such bad for WiiU they said they want to use FrostByte engine for next-gen systems.
Many 360/Ps3 games couldn't even run on Wii due to engines (like UE3), this time FrostByte is already working fine on 360 and Ps3, so it will also be 100% WiiU compatible.
This doesn't mean WiiU is going to have a good support from EA but it means porting will be easyer, so it is a good news.

TO me it doesn't you can do a lot with 1 gig honestly. Though I won't act like more wouldn't be better. I don't consider the rumor specs as a reason to develop for it, but more the easy to port part and the incventives that nintendo is rumored to be offering. Well see though I guess.

They did produce Dead Spce so I know they "can" be ballsy.

Next Gen should have some blockbusters by large corporations. Though on the plus side I see stores like arcade and the playstation store having possibly larger, cheaper, quality games to give room for smaller developers to make profit.

@ Mugen Of course, the Ninty fans hate EA and most third parties. HD fans have had tons of reason to be happy about third parties resulting in more positivity.

Nintendo fans don't take being mistreated well. The hate is entirely well-earned on the third-parties' part.

Does it matter?  We are constantly berated that Nintendo software sells nintendo hardware, how does third parties (or the lack there of) interfer with the experience that a good portion of the Nintendo base looks for.

You're talking to a guy that has owned and still plays Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft consoles and uses his google (asus) tablet to emulate old school Nintendo and Sony games. Not to mention, I am probably going to be a PC, Tablet and Sony gamer only next gen. I do not care about companies like others do here so I have no sympathy for those who will not buy another platform if it has games they want that is not from some company they adore. If you really wanted them you would buy another platform. Corporations owe Nintendo nothing it is a two way street.

This guy sounds pretty retarded...

What does he mean with Battlefield coming online? Battlefield was online long before MS even dreamt of Xbox.

Also, they are completely bombing it in terms of their capitalization of the Wii U potential... Nintendo's machine will be massively popular for good long while unless MS/Sony can release something significantly stronger for reasonable price with lots of quality software out the gate.

There is a rumor that Nintendo and EA specifically had a major fallout after EA pitched a plan to have Origin serve as the framework for Wii U's entire online network which Nintendo rejected, and so EA has been scaling back their Wii U support in response (petty revenge)
