That's the benefit of crappy 1st party games ;)

When I originally posted something like this people blew up on me.
Hmm. Oh well though. I guess your just defending "your" console. But facts are facts, and until something changes thats the way it is.

They can't make money on the PS3 because it has a small install base.
They can't make money on the Xbox outside of the US.
They can't make money on the PC because of piracy.
They can't make money on the Wii for any number of reasons.

I guess it is time for them to go die in a hole somewhere. What a bunch of pansies.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a threadwinner.

The devs that are too timid to take a risk are going to wither and die.

lol at Matt using the shipped worldwide numbers of Carnival games vs sales to consumers in US up to November of Metroid Prime 3.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

Matt's a better game reviewer than he is a sales analyst, that's for sure.

Only this game are in the top 50:

12 Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Sega 10 68,957 2,498,842
33 Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Activision 11 35,834 1,292,792
46 Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Capcom 9 26,674 742,992

The Wii isn't the perfect console for third party.
If you want game like Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire, The Golden Compass, NFL Tour, Super Rub-A-Dub, go buy a PS3.
If you want Mario Galaxy, Ocarina of Time (VC), SSBB, Pikmin 2, Metroid 3, buy a Wii.

or a 360

but this is a very big amount of troll there. Do not do that again. Each console has piss-poor titles.

Sorry, I don't wanted to make a troll. I am Italian and I don't know English very well.

Now I have correpted the message. I only meant that if third party games on PS3 (or XBOX360) are like these, I don't want them on Wii. Thank you

Wii Fit is rapidly beating PS3...

Playing now: Apollo Justice, Majora's Mask

Going to play: Little King Story

"As long as there is a Triforce, there will be a Zelda  As long as there is a prosperous kingdom, there will be an evil that wants destroy it And as long as there is an oppressive force running Hyrule, there will be a boy, in a green tunic, with a silver shield, and a magic blade, to stand against them."-The Legend of Zelda

Actually I see his point. With the PS3's current userbase its expected that some games will flop hard. With the Wii it isnt but some games doesnt sell well at all. Look at RRR 2, it isnt selling as well as expected for a bigger user base then the original RRR had. Yet anything that has massive bright colors with Nintendo printed as the publisher sells well, notice I said bright colors as Metroid doesnt have half the bright colors as Mario Party, SMG, etc etc let along the Wii titled games. Maybe Metroid 3's title should be changed to Metroid 3 Wii and third parties should put Wii in the titles. Need for Speed Wii , Madden 09 Wii, Wii Okami.

Rayman Raving Rabbids has sold 600,000 in 9 weeks and continues to sell well. Of course it's going to run on a different trend line than the first one since the original was a launch title, but the game is selling quite well. And Metroid Prime 3 is on pace to kick Prime 2's ass.

Also, while still poor compared to the other systems, Madden 08 is significantly outselling Madden 07.

Anyways, the point of Matt's article was that Third parties are scared to release ________* games on the Wii, but so far no one has pointed out which of those games has done poorly on the Wii for reason's other than the game itself.

* adult/hardcore/dark/mature... insert silly word here.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

When saying "mature" games don't sell well on Nintendo, I don't think that giving No More Heroes is the best source of an argument. From what I understand, as poorly as NMH sold in Japan, it is Suda 51's best selling game in Japan ever. Saying mature games don't sell well on the Wii because of NMH sales is like saying mature games don't sell well on PS2 because Killer 7 flopped.

The sales of Resident Evil games show that there IS an audience that will buy these games on Wii, and if you think about it, Resident Evil 4 is 3 years old and Umbrella Chronicles isn't even that good of a game.

Manhunt 2? That game sold poorly on both the Wii and PS2 as far as I know. It was released too late.

Hopefully some developer can step up and make a good "M" title on Wii with a decent ad campaign to compliment it. I'm not saying that "M" games are better than other games, but it would be nice to expand the Wii library to make it a more balanced console.

As for No More Heroes in North America. As soon as sales following the game's release show up, I'm sure dozens of people will be quick to say mature games don't sell on Wii. I think that a lot of people would get a kick out of the game. The battle system would really appeal to a lot of players, which is why people bought Red Steel. They loved the concept, but the game didn't execute it properly, unfortunately. The problem with NMH is that Ubisoft isn't letting anyone know the game is coming out THIS TUESDAY. On top of that, I'm sure they won't ship many copies. That doesn't go well with new IPs. I'm sure Zack & Wiki would have sold very well if Capcom had just shipped more copies and advertised it. Oh well.

Dude, what are you thinking posting this? You know it could make many people angry right? If the PS3 has games that are flopping hard, no matter what thee excuse is, then why are there not big editorials and complaints from third parties saying, "Well, you know, games are not selling well on the system because the user base is not there. Sony should open the door by making some better games and selling more consoles to give us room to breathe. Until they do, we are going to give them limited, side story-esque support like we are giving Nintendo."

Wait, did you say nowhere to be found? You are falling victim to a double standard. Do not make excuses for PS3 game failures and then go on to say that the titles of games should be changed to accommodate the Wii audiance. That is ignorant and in my opinion, trolling.

Would anyone else love to know how much money is being spent on 360/PS3 titles (both in development and marketing), and how much is being spent on Wii titles by third parties?

I would guess that the third party PS3/360 investment totals easily, easily triple the Wii totals, if not quadruple them or more.

It's such an unfair fight I want to scream this every time. It's like giving one film maker 100 million dollars and another 20 million, and being absolutely shocked when the giant blockbuster outsells the low budet one. Frankly, third parties have failed across the board on the Wii -- they haven't given their games enough development time, they haven't picked their best teams, they haven't marketed their games well if at all -- and it's infuriating as a Wii fan to see some of this stuff compared to something like Call of Duty 4 or Grand Theft Auto, games with 25 Million+ budgets and huge marketing compaigns. Wow, you gave your best developers 20 million dollars and an awesome marketing budget, and they managed to outsell NiGHTS! Amazing!

Here's a great example: Zack and Wiki didn't do as well as many hoped, and we've pointed this out many times. But what about a game like Stranglehold? It had, by Midway's proud admission, a 30 million dollar budget, and it didn't do well either. It had a much larger marketing campaign.

And yet we talk about these games as if they're equals, and the Z&W flop is just like the Stranglehold flop. Please -- I'm not shocked when a 5 foot tall man loses a dunking contest, but I am when an 7'5'' tall man does. It makes a huge difference.

Here's a final note to emphasize my point: no Wii games with budgets over 10 million dollars has flopped. Ever. I'd guess we've already seen 10+ such flops on the PS3.
