Forums - Sales Discussion - Update 9: New Super Mario Bros. 2 sales on the North American eShop

Update 8 (10/24/2012): Nintendo has confirmed that the game has sold 3.25 million WW including digital. If we go by VGChartz's numbers, that means the game has sold more than 500k on the eShop.

Question. Is nintendo using shipped or sold units this time? I imagine if sold then 4m shipped/digital. If not then I think the shipped/ sold gap = digital numbers.

Why wasn't it instantly number 1? Its tangible form was.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. If your talking about it's placement on the charts, then it'll be impossible beyond reasoning to be there right out of the gate. It's selling just fine where it's at right now.

Thanks to Nintendo's latest numbers we now know that NSMB 2's numbers are at 3.25 million worldwide including digital. I'm sure someone can link it up for me. So... is 100k in US still an overestimate?

By the way, Pokemon Dream Radar is now the 9th best selling software on the All Software Charts and 3rd on the 3DS charts.

Here in Mexico Pokemon Dram Radar is 8th overall and 3rd on the 3DS one

3.25m ww would mean the total shipped ww + Digital sales
i would say about 200k digital

Update (10/27/2012): The game has now outsold Sakura Samurai becoming the 8th best selling eShop LTD. All it needs to do now is outsell 3D Classics: Xevious and it'll appear on the All Software Charts!

In some related news, Liberation Maiden is right under Pokemon Dream Radar in the Recent Releases charts, which is a chart that tracks how games sell on a constant daily basis. Also, Mario Kart 7 is selling pretty well out of the four newly downloadable retail titles.
