The Last Story was my favorite game out of all the Rainfall Games.

Probably won't get it soon but it is really fun looking.

Look, i thought the same, and then i played Xenoblade.

What i'm trying to say is...

Are you trying to tell me with that link that I should buy Xenoblade?

Perhaps...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Around the Network

I pre-ordered my copy from amazon, it shippied this thursday and will arrive to my PO box next tuesday, then it will take 1 or 2 weeks to arrive to my house, so I will keep you posted.

I first played through it back in March, but I'm playing through it for the second  time at the moment.

It's an excellent game in my opinion.

I really like how it strips away almost everything negative about JRPGs, (slow pace, archaic combat) and blends the positives of the genre with action-adventure elements to keep things fun and interesting. The whole thing feels like a very satisfying fusion of Eastern and Western game design, as if  Skyrim and classic Final Fantasy had a baby. (That thankfully didn't inherit the glitches of the former) It streamlines and trims the fat so that there's almost never a dull moment, but still enough depth so that it doesn't feel dumbed down.

The battle system has a great sense of immediacy and strategy, and introduces new elements at a steady pace to keep things fresh.

The plot is rather pedestrian, but it's compensated  for by the colourful, likeable characters and often (intentionally) hilarious script. Voice acting is quality for the most part too.

Add a fantastic score and some handsome graphics with a cohesive art style and cool effects like depth of field and volumetric light, (though there is some slowdown during busy scenes) and you've got a game that's imperfect, but well above average.

I'll be done before you get it.

Played it for an hour today, it didn't grab me as well as XenoBlade or Lost Odyssey yet, but the battle system is pretty cool. Can't wait to see how advanced it gets.

Why is there so little talk for The Last Story on VGC? I thought there should be a thread on VGC just to talk about The Last Story, like there was for XenoBlade.

Because it's not a good game. Not even close.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

That's not what I hear. I've heard it's very comparible to XenoBlade in terms of quality, and it's gotten fairly decent reviews.

However playing it, I think Lost Odyssey is better, but this is still great.

I'm about 6 hours in and I'm enjoying it a lot. I like the action style gameplay. The plot so far has been fairly predictable, but enjoyable. Voice acting took a little getting used to, but I've warmed up to it. All the characters are likeable in one way or another, unlike other JPRGs such as FF13 (in which the only likable characters in the first 10 hours was the comic relief.) The battle system is fun and full of action, but I wish you were able to have a little more control, and that the strategy element was a little more fleshed out. So far its been a solid 8.5 for me as well. Soundtrack of course is amazing (Uematsu never disappoints). If you like your RPGs with more action, this is definitely a game to try.

Check out my Youtube Let's Play channel here.

I'm 9 hours in preordered it from buy.com when they had a $10 off preorder sale.

The story was boring the first 5 hours then it started to pick up. About 7-8 hours in it became interesting. Make sure to change your battle setting so that you control your fights. The tutorials are pretty bad at teaching the mechanics. The battle system is pretty fun once you get the hang of it, but there is a lot of slowdown when there are a ton on enemies on screen.

They upgrade system for the weapons is cool, and since you can grind for more money, you should never worry about not spending money as you get it. The camera is by far the worst part of the game. Not as bad as older games, but I had to fight one of the bosses like ten times, because the camera was causing me so much trouble when I was trying to figure out the weakness of the boss.

I would say so far despite the problems get it. The game is very fun once the main elements are introduced. Also, you don't need to grind, but I enjoy doing it.

I agree with the desire for more strategy. Like when Dagran will consult with you pre-battle, i wish battle preparation involved drawing routes for characters, or assigning roles to guys (like telling Mirania to stick to Syrenne like glue to keep her healed, as an example)
